Raps shorted 2 points in the Atlanta game..
sorry no link guys,
I just heard it on the FAN 590, they just found out today in practice after going through game footage from the Atlanta game that there was 2 points we scored that wasn't counted, and in such a close game it would of made a huge difference.

The one time it's the Hawks not getting cheated, everyone goes crazy. Get over it, we get screwd all the time, you don't see us crying.

Who's crying? Tron made a thread to inform everyone of this but that's different from crying or complaining about anything.
Looks like you jumped the gun a little bit.

why even post this?
For one, we haven't made much of a stink about this yet. Why would you care if we did?
It is a pretty big mistake, one I've never seen nba scorekeepers make before, and it definitely affected the outcome of this game.

ive seen instances where scorekeepers make mistakes, but they are always corrected pretty quickly
pretty big mistake by the scorekeeper. Kind of sad when your only job is to keep the score, and you mess up

Wade accomplished this in two consecutive series in the 2005 playoffs.
2. Joined Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, and Allen Iverson as the only players ever to record games of 40+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 15+ assists in the same playoff season in 2005.

The last record was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 63%. Wade accomplished it with less than 20 field goal attempts per game

Re: Raps shorted 2 points in the Atlanta game..
this is disgusting. i remember this and i thought i was losing my mind. as noted, the tsn crew was asleep at the switch last night (it seemed) but then i caught the scoreboard in the arena and it was also off by two points. what made it worse, i kid you not, was that it occurred during our only spirited run of the fourth (disregarding the tj ford show for a few possessions there near the end). i think it started after fred jones hit his three and swirsky exclaimed something like, "we have ourselves a game now, folks." chris bosh went to the line on two consecutive possessions to follow, i know he hit at least 3 of 4 if not all 4 (i only saw 3 of them), and yet the scoreboard moved just two points. i was like, "did it begin being off by two points? someone's got to sort this out, this is really ugly. this is a critical juncture of the game, too."
and i'm talking about the scoreboard in the arena, which was all we had left since tsn was just as confused at the time- putting up random updates every minute or two. it bothered me that nothing was being said by swirsky (except for a third score at times, contradicting both the arena and the screen), but more so that nothing was being said by the bench or anyone on the floor. i'm not the first guy to make a mountain out of a molehill but we weren't credited for at least one basket there in the fourth, during a perceived momentum shift. without exaggerating the issue, that basket (at least the one) could have potentially changed the game. even from my seat on the couch, i felt empty that we were scoring points and yet couldn't seem to (for whatever reason) cut the deficit at all.
if i were the hawks employees at the scoring desk on that night, i'd pass a sincere apology onto everyone affected by the mistake. it shows utter incompetence and neglect of responsibility. your one job is to keep score of the game; do your job- the same way we all do ours. and trust me, i'd be saying the same thing if the roles were reversed and it was the hawks who had to pay the bill for the errors made by raptors scorekeepers. it doesn't matter who was playing, who was hurt or who was helped; it's unacceptable stuff (imo). it left me frustrated last night- and now that it's been confirmed, i've been left with a bitter taste in my mouth today. what were they doing? talking on their cells? making practical jokes? whatever it was, it left them distracted to the point where even i am upset by this today. yuck.
peace

Re: Raps shorted 2 points in the Atlanta game..
I kind of felt something was wrong when the scoreboard didn't change properly and when Chuck kept saying a different score than what was being shown.
Those two points could have made all the difference in the world. I know we lost by more than 2 points in the end, but if the team had known that they were that much closer to winning, it could have boosted momentum and confidence and it would probably have changed the plays being called and executed.
And really! How could the scorekeepers get this wrong? Also, I'm rather surprised that none of the referees noticed it at the time. Usually they notice things like mistakes with the clock and stuff, so you'd think that they would notice it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming this on the referees. I'm just really surprised that nobody seemed to notice it at the time of the game.

Re: Raps shorted 2 points in the Atlanta game..
Wait. So what happens now? I mean it's pretty obvious that a mistake was made with the score. If we lost the game by a 30 point deficit, it wouldn't be such a big deal. However, I'm pretty sure this happened when it was a close match between the two teams. Does the team complain to the league about it? Has anything like this happened before?
