Raptors currently projecting to the #5 overall draft pick
Of course, if they beat Miami tonight, they will be projecting to #16.
Don't you think they need to fix the playoff system. Teams with records below .500 simply should not be eligible; if no team in a Division is over .500, why not award the spot to another team?
Anyway, #5 would let us take Julian Wright from Kansas.
6-8 225, 19 years old, 12ppg 8 rpg 2.2 apg, 2 bpg 1.5 spg, 55% FG, & has 3-point range.

It's still early, why are we talking about a lottery pick we should be talking about trying to make the playoffs. Also if we had that pick, I believe Colangelo would look to trade it and get a good veteran player instead.

i say we continue to lose and get oden. Have him play the 5, bosh the 4, and bargnani the 3, we will be unstoppable.

Re: Raptors currently projecting to the #5 overall draft pick
i'd like to see what Hasheem Thabeet does in conference play......we need defense bad, and this kid would be a force in the middle since Andrea is an adequate post defender at best....
Noah's motor would be a welcomed sight to a team where it just doesnt do anything and stands around on both ends of the court for stretches that last a quarter...his hustle could get the other guys on the team going...
then theres the usual suspects already mentioned above...

Re: Raptors currently projecting to the #5 overall draft pick
With how bad the East is this year, as long as the Raptors misses the playoffs, they will have a good chance at the top 3 pick. I don't think the Raptors need to "Tank" this season. We are looking at a 30-35 win season at best this year anyway.

If we get Durant we are going to have a sick team of Texans.

Re: Raptors currently projecting to the #5 overall draft pick
Here are the names I'm following this season as potential Raps draft picks.
- Julian Wright 6-8 225 SF Kansas So.
- Marco Belinelli 6-6 200 SG Italy 1986
- Daequan Cook 6-5 210 SG Ohio St. Fr.
- Marcus Williams 6-7 207 SG Arizona So.
- Rodney Stuckey 6-4 205 SG E. Wash. So.
These guys are besides the Oden's and Durant's.

We don't need another PF, Noah won't be able to play the 5 or the 3 in the NBA. Why get a high pick just to have him come off the bench? This draft is suposed to be deep, let's get a star 5 or wing.

Re: Raptors currently projecting to the #5 overall draft pick
I am starting to look forward to the next draft. what can i say, i'm a junkie. for all we know, this coming draft could be just as important to our development as Bargnani (though I doubt it).
I'm happy to say that this team should be fairly easy to draft for. We're not a very "needy" team IMO - we don't have much of a worry at the most needy positions of PG and C. And yet the versatility of AB and CB allow potential room for another athletic big man - splitter and noah could find roles for example.
I really want to add a power-small forward - Marvin Williams-esque, if you will; Shawn Marion would be perfect of course. Julian Wright seems to fit the bill. I want a wing that fits with TJ - that can catch and rise up to finish down the lane.
Think Bill Walker will be in this draft?

Re: Raptors currently projecting to the #5 overall draft pick
Yes there's a lot of talented players in the Next draft arguably the best one since the 2003 draft. But it all depends who declares, because rumours have it that Oden will not declare this season, because he wants to get is degree, but I believe if he wins a championship with the Ohio State, then he's going to declare. But like I've said, I believe Colangelo would trade a high pick for a good player.

for one, you draft Noah because of his motor and passion....the guy is always in on a play on either side of the court, and he runs like a 2 guard on the floor with the ability to block shots, which is where our team is directed towards...
secondly, hes the type of player that doesnt need to shoot the ball on offense to be a factor in a game...hes good defensively, good at grabbing rebounds, and is a good passer that can play a high low game with either of our 2 bigs, or pass out of a double in the post - if teams dont double, hes athletic enough with his first step and ball handling skills to get to the basket and he can make free throws...
sure, his body is a cause for concern, but his athleticism and work ethic on the court more than makes up for it imo.....again, this doesnt mean i'd draft him for our squad since its still too early and we could probably use a wing more than another projected 4, but at worst, hes an Anderson Varejao....if Noah can show in workouts that he can guard 3's in the league, i'd seriously consider him...
