According to team sources, Morris Peterson's agent has sparked trade rumors by shopping around for a deal.

No deal appears to be imminent, however.

Peterson is in a contract year and Rob Pelinka is concerned about seeing his value diminish.

Well, it IS a contract year for him, and he's not being used to his full potential... But I don't think MoPete is the kinda guy who would want out to make more money. I don't think it, but it could very well be a possibility.

even if agents can't make trades it doesnt mean they can't talk to GMs to see if their client has any value and see if they can put their client and themselves in a position to earn some cash.

It's very hard to say who we can get for him, because sometimes he'll have an amazing game but other nights he'll be no where to be seen on the box score sheet. But I believe that we can a good bench player for him, someone who will bring defense and offense, maybe another wing player. Or we might even get a draft pick for him, which is always good if you think about.

Dumb post. The thread was started because a reputable news source reported this.

And agents can in fact initiate trade talks. I can't think of a specific NBA example but it happens in the NFL all the time.

They can't complete the transaction obviously but they can talk to GM's around the league to create interest in their product.

Mo's agent has a tremendous stake in this whole thing because his playing time this season will have a direct correlation with his salary next year.
