Re: Pistons, Raps, Davis, Murray, McDyess, Peterson, and the kitchen sink
i guess it's possible but i'd be heavily against anything like this. i'm not sure i totally understand why we would do this. peterson is the 'best' player in the trade, peterson's current trade value is at a low, we're looking to make a run for the playoffs ourselves, etc.
i guess we'd be getting a first rounder (we'd better) but, i mean, would it be better value than keeping peterson himself and re-upping him this summer- or even waiting until the real offers turn the corner come trade time?
i don't know what this obsession is with dumping peterson. we're dumping our best player at a position we feel needs help. number one, that position (imo) will probably always seem that way- at least as long as bosh, ford and bargnani are running this team. and moving him for the rumours i've heard just doesn't appeal to me, either- it's like a true 'player dump' here. why in the world...
peace

Ehh, I'm not sure about that. Mo is much more consistent than Flip, the only bad season he's had was when Kevin O'Neil told him to go stand in the corner and shoot 3's all day. You're never sure what you're getting with Flip though.

Also, I'm just reporting what is being written in newspapers and on websites.
Personally, I don't think Flip is a good fit for this team. If we can get something for Mo (supposing we don't want to re-up with him in the summer) a pick is what I would want. Otherwise I'm happy to keep him.

Don't the Raptors have 15 contracts right now, too? I can't remember, to be honest, and I'm too lazy to look it up. Thus if the Raptors were to take more than one player back from Detroit in this hypothetical trade, they'd have to cut someone, right?

Depends on Pape Sow. The Raptors can get a roster exception for long-term injuries, like they have in recent years, if they don't plan on bringing him back.

They do have a pretty full squad. They don't have playing time or even roster room for two new rookies next season. I could definitely see them giving up a pick.

What about Delfino? I think he could be a better back-up at the 2 then Jones, and is a better fit then Murray.
I would take Davis and Delfino.....maybe we waive Sow :-(

They had to apply for that exception before December 1 to use it this year. So I guess they're SOL in terms of taking more than one player back, right?
