Re: Jose Calderon
If we talk about offensive talent Tj is clearly a better player, but the sensation, and it is becoming consistent is that Calderon is a better playmaker..I remember of a Tj passer version with Texas, this season he is trying to be a scorer, but lots of players play better with Jose..Tj thinks for himself and Bosh, that's it..He ignored consistently other players..Bargnani is the clear example..with Calderon is a player, with Ford he runs up and down the floor without getting touches..
i'm not saying trade Tj, and give the keys of the team to Jose, but I'm saying that Tj has to change the way he plays, that's for sure..He can do that..he proved in the past he could be a playmaker..now he is no playmaker.. If this doesn't happen I think Colangelo will consider trading the little man.
Jose is a playmaker, the playmaker we need, he is not a star, and I doubt he will ever be, but in the team there are other talented players..the playmaker has to maximize their potential, and make some points too(10-12 points a game is enough to me).. Tj is failing in leading the team, he is putting on numbers(and that could give him a higher market value), but could do a lot more...

Re: Jose Calderon
You need Calderón and TJ. They are the perfect combination IMO. They could play together too if needed
TJ Ford..

and Calderón against Minnesota

Calderón wants to play when he feels he deserves to play (if he’s playing better than TJ or the game needs a PG like him). If you can offer him that (it seems you can) then he will extend his contract. Calderón and Garbajosa are happy in Toronto

Re: Jose Calderon
LOVE what Calderon has brought. Nothing like a bit of healthy competition for Ford. Smitch hasn't had a solid 2nd option at the point since he got here. Can't wait to see what we look like when Ford is back and healthy.

Judging by TJ's track record in the clutch this season, I beg to differ.

Re: Jose Calderon
All I know is that the combined 12.1 assists between the two of them is frick'n wicked.
We got lucky and hopefully we'll be able to keep both of them because the idea of trading either really doesn't appeal to me, at least this season.

I see no reason to trade either, unless they start not getting along with each other. Give Calderon an extension now. It's obvious he's a keeper.

If Calderon has any pride, WHICH OF COURSE HE HAS PLENTY OF, he will not accept the extension. He is a team player, but he has drive to be a starter.. no way he signs back with us.

I don't want to trade either of them this year either.. I am not for ripping a team mid-year.
But I am for getting a quality two or three in the offseason. That won't happen in the draft... that won't happen with the MLE.. it will happen through a 2-1 type trade if we are willing to give up a real asset.
Fred Jones, Joey Graham, Sow, slokar, .... all really have no value.
But Calderon and Ford do, and they can't play at the same time.
There is no way that Calderon stays here beyond next year anyway ... MANY teams would like him as there starter NOW. You are extrememly, extremely, extremely, extremely naive if you think he will sign an extension to stay here as someone suggested.... extremely.
I would trade Ford, and use the MLE to get a decent backup PG. And I like Ford as well... but I live by a mantra of using your assets wisely. And quite frankly when there is always one of your top five assets nailed to the bench, you are not maximizing your resources.

Re: Jose Calderon
Another vote for Calderon here. Calderon is closer to the type of point gaurd that Steve Nash is, while TJ is a lot closer to Marbury ... It just depends on how you want to build your team, I'm sure Colangelo know whats to do!
Though if it was me, I'ld have Calderon lead ... I just love the passion that he's been showing. If Toronto let him go this year, they will definitely regret it.

Re: Jose Calderon
he has been playing well but the last 3 games our fg% has been down. I think Tj gives our guys a better chance of making higher percentage shots
vs Boston 41.3%
vs Indiana 42.3%
vs New Orleans/Oklahoma 41.2%
