now, if he were reading this, i'd be quiet, but since he's not i have to be honest: his release on free throws (in terms of their full extension) is not uniformly consistent anymore (it used to be much better, imo). as a result, you see chris bricking more free throws than ever now- occasionally, out of nowhere- sheer bricks. to begin the year, it was frustrating because he was experimenting with a new form overall (although, again, i wasn't sure why he would), but now it's even more frustrating because he's got at least two forms in his head- and more importantly, at least two forms in his arms- and the consistency suffers in that headspace (imo).

i hope coach hopla can help to resolve this because, i know, ignorance is bliss and chris is playing remarkably well right now, but i totally see it affecting games in the future- not in the shaq way, where you know he can't hit them, but in the more dangerous (imo) bruce bowen way, where you don't know when he'll hit them. chris wasn't on this path last year but now he is, imo, and hopefully it can be worked out. i wouldn't underestimate its importance to this team- i think this thread is on point.

peace
Let's be real, he is a career 77% FT shooter, and is definitely one of the best FT shooting big men in the league right now. Bruce Bowen is a guard that has shot 57% in his career and he was such a liability at the line that he was being fouled on every play in the 3rd quarter by Phil Jackson because he knew he was likely to miss at least one of two.

Re: Bosh Free Throw Shooting

the thing is, i was never grading chris bosh in relation to bruce bowen (or even other bigs). i was grading (if anything) chris bosh in relation to chris bosh. also, i wasn't criticizing his career stats at the line- i was taking issue with his stats at the line this year compared to previous years. there's a trend there that concerns me, and while i may be way off (i hope i am), i'm not sure it's entirely coincidental that his numbers in this category are down this season. it's also the 'when'- chris misses freebies now that i don't believe he missed earlier, shots that imo are important to momentum shifts in games, etc. that's beginning to worry me a bit, too. but whatever- it's not critical. i'll turn a blind eye to it. hopefully it'll get resolved in no time with dave hopla's help.

peace
