Everything is turning up roses for the Toronto Raptors since the new year
began. Toronto's Chris Bosh was voted an Eastern Conference All-Star for
the second consecutive year, this time in a starting capacity. He was then
named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January after helping
guide the Raptors to a 10-5 record. Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell was also
honoured as he was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for his
role in the Raptors recent resurgence. Finally, and not to be outdone, the
first overall pick in the 2007 Draft, Andrea Bargnani, continued his solid
play on the season and was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the
Month. The trifecta of awards for the same team is a first in NBA history.
Friday the Raptors head down to Atlanta to face a Hawks team that is ten
games under .500 but who have won three of their last four. The Raptors
come into Atlanta looking to even the season series at two games a piece.
The Hawks won both of the first meetings earlier this season, besting
Toronto twice in November. Toronto responded early in the new year, hosting
the Hawks at the ACC on the fifth of January and beating them by 13 points.
Joe Johnson, the high-scoring wing player not named to the 2007 Eastern
Conference All-Star team, scored only 15 points in that loss, but put up 34
and 27 in the first two contests, respectively. After their game against the
Hawks the Raptors head out on a three-game road trip in which they will face
three decent teams including both from Los Angeles and the talented but
faltering Orlando Magic. The game tips-off at 7:30 PM only on Raptors NBATV
and Fan590.com. The game might also be viewed live if anyone bothers going.

Haha Speedy, you are the king. I love reading your writeups of the previews, they are so professional and hilarious at the same time. Keep up the good work bro.

On another note, the Raps better own the Hawks, for some reason we always play bad against them. I predict the Raps will pull away in the last few minutes after being behind for most of the game.

i'm glad the hawks are slowly getting healthy again. they just need a healthy speedy to see what they can do. we already know what we can do with a healthy speedy.

i'm interested to see how shelden's progressed since we last saw him. i wonder if he's turned himself into more of a presence on the defensive end yet.

josh smith is a spectacular player to watch. i don't know what'll happen with him in atlanta but i expect him to eventually develop into a real important piece on a contending ballclub. he's obviously got the tools, but i think he's got more than that, too.

marvin williams looks a little like alvin williams in that photo, imo. i wonder...

I would imagine TJ will be playing agin off bench. On yesterdy's Raptors Today he said the ankle was feeling good, there was also some nice footage of him working on his jimmie and fist pumping, it appeared he'd hit several in a row.

according to the score he is expected to play not word if starting or not but he should be playing

one note...the raptors are in fact going home for a 3 game homestand against those teams, not going on a road trip.

The key to this game is to contain Joe Johnson. When he gets hot, well... we are in trouble.

we usally play well in Atlanta won 8 out our last 11 in the ATL
