Re: Grizzlies @ Raptors, Mar. 7th
Only saw the 4th quarter (stupid classes!) but I was relieved they blew the Grizz away. That makes me happy. Too bad Slokar didn't get a bucket, though.

One sequence in the game has led me to write-off Gasol as a player. I wouldn't trade Nugget for him.
He had the ball knocked out of his hands and it bounced off his foot. It slowly rolled towards the sideline and he not only couldn't be bothered to pursue it--he didn't even turn his body towards it. A Raptor shot in and I can't remember if we came up with it or not. I mean, the Raps have been bad for a few years, but I can't remember being this disgusted with a players lack of care since you know who. That was just embarrassing for him and for his franchise.
Anyways, good set-up for Sunday. We need to get back to our winning ways and get the bad aftertaste of losing out of our mouths and off our minds.

I'll take exception to the knock on Gasol, he's the only guy that puts in a nights work on a regular basis, watched management trade the present away when they dumped Battier and then told him they'd move him which in turn they didnt. I'll give him a pass on not going after a loose ball.

The whole Memphis team looked disinterested - not just Gasol. I wouldn't write off Gasol based on his recent play - why bust your chops when your teammates are a bunch of over-paid creampuffs and you know you're going to be traded in the off-season?

imo, the reason 'why' is because that thought shouldn't even cross your mind. as a pro- heck, as a player- you should be a slave to basketball (for lack of a better term). letting that other stuff dictate how hard you play on certain nights is the first step on the road to failure, imo. you can't get in the habit of varying the amount of effort you exert.

The 18-0 run by the Grizz to end the game made this one closer than it should be but meh - I'll take the win at this point.
I loved the D last night, especially the in the paint.
My favourite play had to be Andrea's great behind the back recovery then pass to Jose who jumps passes (why jump? why?) MoP who burries the three.

Pretty much my line of thought as well.
There are many reasons he would want to make an effort--not the least of which being to improve his trade value so he will make himself more attractive to a decent NBA team--but there is a definite lack of pride that he displayed which makes me discount his sportsmanship.
Losing sucks, and we know this all too well. But nobody, especially somebody with his talent, should be resigned to it.

Good win, good win. Well, maybe not great, but an important win. We didn't want to go on a four game losing skid.

Good win for us, i was impressed with the defense. But that 18-0 Memphis run at the end makes me think, what if it was a closer game. Then we would have lost, we were lucky that we were up by 25 when they made the run.

if Toronto lost this game then I would start to get a LITTLE worried.
