Alright heres the question, how bad can andrea turn out and you'd still be happy with him on the squad?

The way i see it he could easily someday he could be one of the premier scores (if he does... blah blah blah post up this mid range that) but yeah he actually looks like scoring is that easy for him.

But i would still be happy with him if he only got 14-18 points a game and was able to defend the 4-5 comfortably and box out if not getting rebounds. I think hes well on his way.

I'd be dissapointed if he didn't become a superstar.
He has the skill set, the drive, the potential and the physical and mental tools to become a superstar type player.
If he's anything less than a consistent all-star, I'd be dissapointed.

^I think your expectations are too high I'd be happy with a 15-20 ppg guy plus Chris is our star most of the offense will run through him so that will limit Bargnani touches a bit

He won't be a 20-25ppg guy until he gets to the FT line regularly. His good scoring nights right now have to come from shooting a great percentage. He needs more easy baskets to be a big time scorer. Otherwise you have to be a volume shooter. FT's and hustle buckets are the best way to boost your scoring average.

And he is going to have to become a better rebounder to make the all-star game as a C.

But all this will come. He is getting more comfortable off the dribble against NBA help D. He has a good mid-range pullup already. His 3ball is deadly. It's really his inside game that will take the most time. Bosh is just starting to show big improvement inside this year and is still easily stripped and knocked off balance so Andrea will need a few years as well.

I would like to see him develop some type of jump stop or 2 foot finish off the drive into the paint. Avoid the charge and go up with a more controlled shot when he can't get all the way to the rim. And he needs to find a high percentage go-to move in the low post with one counter move when people overplay it.

He's already an average post defender - anything more would be a bonus.
(he's as good as Bosh is, which may not be saying a lot).

His rebounding could improve a lot - but I think it's inevitable as he gains experience and strength.

I think he'll average 20 + pts. easily. Right now, he's not getting starter minutes, no one sets a pick for him, no one runs a play for him, and he gets 14 points anyway.

At the same time, opposing defenses might stop giving him so much room. Right now, it's as if each team comes into the game knowing nothing about him (wow! he can hit the open 3! let's see if he can hit 3-4 before we decide to defend him)

There's no reason why Andrea shouldn't be a better player than Bosh. He's having a better rookie season than Bosh, he's already a better defender and shooter than Bosh. But Bosh clearly has the upper hand in terms of rebounding, athleticism, playing with his back to the basket, his post presence, getting to the line etc..

Andrea has never been taught to play in the post or rebound before this season

If he develops that aspect of his game, which he clearly has the skill set to do, he will be a top 10 player in this league.

He's pretty much averaging 15 points a game right now. I think expectations should be a little higher. But I think the expectations should revolve around him becoming a more well rounded player (rebounding, defense etc.) Offense clearly comes natural to him

He is a great passer too, which is why it would be nice to run the offense through him at the high post where he can shoot, attack the rim with just one dribble, and pass the ball to cutters or another big.

Maybe like a young Chris Webber role in the SAC offense when they were a top team.

His threes would still come from the high pick and pop plays he runs today but on most possessions he should get the ball 20 feet and in where he can get to the rim quicker before help arrives. Similar to where Bosh gets the ball but Andrea can work above the foul line while Bosh works the wings.

This is part of the reason I love having Rasho on the team. Even in limited time and offensive touches, Rasho is still effective. I hope AB can learn a few easy, yet super effective moves in the post from Rasho. Like the sky-hook or baseline shake move both are money moves and could help Il Mago become even more of a complete offensive player.

I believe the question posed in the first post asked 'how bad is good enough'. Well, I agree with Sanjan, 15 and good D is the minimum I'd hope for from Bargnani.

Even if he never improved from here on, he would still be a valuable player for us going forward.

IMO he will be better than Bosh in about five years.

Offensively he's farther along than Dirk was when he entered the league. Maybe not as consistent with the jumper, but he's much more comfortable out there. He knows he belongs in the NBA and he knows he CAN be good. He definitely has the drive to improve every aspect of his game. I'd be shocked if he wasn't a star in the NBA in a few years.
