With the return of star big man Yao Ming the Houston Rockets, 40-25, hope to
end the season on a tear and improve their standing in the Western Conference.
So far the Asian sensation has lifted them to a 4-2 record, most recently
helping guide them to a 109-105 home victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Ming is averaging just under 30 minutes in the last six games, but hasn't
looked worse for wear, his best recent performance coming against the Magic,
a game in which he scored 37 points and added four blocks, holding man-child
Dwight Howard to just 16 points in the process. Ming's return has also had a
positive impact on the play of his wingman, Tracy McGrady, who is averaging
nearly seven assists in the last six contests. The Rockets are 5-3 on the
month and are jealously eying the fourth seed, currently owned by the Utah
Jazz. Speaking of fourth seeds, the Toronto Raptors, winners of four straight,
have begun to put serious distance between themselves and their closest
competition in the Atlantic Division. On Wednesday night the Raptors fought
back from a first-half deficit to defeat rival New York Knicks, increasing
their lead on the Atlantic to a full six games. The Raps have seven games
left in March, four at home, and only two against Western Conference squads.
They had a scare on Wednesday when two key guards-Jose Calderon & Anthony
Parker-sustained minor ankle injuries, but both players are practicing and
are expected to play on Friday. The game tips at 7PM on TSN and Fan590.com. </td></tr>

Re: Rockets @ Raptors, Mar. 16th
the crowd should'nt boo Mcgrady every time he touches the ball, I think just Carter is public enemy.
Other nite fans booed Damon a bit.

T-Mac still gets booed? And Damon too?? If Doug Christie makes a comeback will he get booed too? And for you guy's sake you shouldn't boo T-Mac, 'cuz you know he likes it...
Yao's had consecutive crap games so we're looking for him to explode in this one. If Mitchell is smart he'd get Bosh to double up on him and give Juwan Howard and Chuck Hayes their freebies.

Unlike Carter, T-Mac does a good job feeding off the boos that he receives. It'd probably be a good thing for the Raptors if the fans don't boo him.

Re: Rockets @ Raptors, Mar. 16th
i predicted this as a raptor loss so what do the raps have to do to win.
the only think i can think of is to play tough defence an run a lot to tire out the rockets first string.
too bad jose an anthony have bad ankles cause that can mess up there shooting and running.

Re: Rockets @ Raptors, Mar. 16th
it was odd to hear what people were saying today, that the raps are gunning for their fifth win in a row or whatever. i find it hard to believe, really. i've been frustrated by this team of late... and yet they're on a 4-game win streak. what's wrong with me?
i'll stick to my guns, though: i think the team (and a lot of its fans) are riding a false sense of security at the moment. three of the four games could've- would've?- been losses against almost any team in the league other than the one they were facing on that night. i guess you could say that "four wins is four wins" but honestly, i think that's dangerous. this is not "four wins". these four have a major asterisk beside them- at least they do for me.
i think tonight will be a fair and true test for the raps. latest reports have parker as probable and calderon as doubtful, while the rockets are more or less healthy and- this is important- looking to avenge the embarrassing effort they put on the floor in houston.
the reactions to how the raptors are playing at the moment are sort of oversimplified, imo. tonight's result- be it a win or loss- will go a long way to restoring reality to the way we see the team. i don't particularly like these rose-coloured glasses.
peace

i agree this is game is a big test for the raps. with jose an anthony not at full power others will have to step up big time. guys like mopete, graham, dixon will have to have big games.
