AP is important or just coincident???
Hi Guys
Every time AP is out of the line up - injury- Raptors lost the game.
Don't you think AP is important for the team or just coincident.
Drive to the playoff

Re: AP is important or just coincident???
I think half the games we lost with him in the line up we might of lost anyways, but the other half, I would say yes. AP is huge. He does a lot more than what his stats show.

Re: AP is important or just coincident???
imo, the team wants to believe that parker is more important than he really is. it thinks it needs to believe it right now.
i think this is where leadership steps in. why it hasn't stepped in as of yet is because it's either asleep or it simply isn't on the team at the moment. either way, the team has indeed been losing games because of parker's absence- whether those losses (and performances, in general) could have been avoided even without parker is another matter altogether.
this is not as simple as parker being 'important'. i would suggest that chris bosh is probably more important to the toronto raptors, but then again, our team went 6-6 without chris in the lineup. how would you explain that? leadership is at a premium for this team right now; i sort of wish someone here already would interrupt our regular days and remind the players that one player does not a team make, no matter whether that player is michael jordan, anthony parker or vincenzo esposito, and as a professional, the basketball games have to be played regardless.
but it seems like no one has emerged in that role- i think that can be proven if only by the rather apathetic facial expressions shown on our collective face as we got blown out versus houston... milwaukee... san antonio... and cleveland. this is not about playing with or without anthony parker (of all players): this is a matter of leadership. do we have it? if so, where is it? if not, where do we get it?
peace

Hell yeah, AP is important. He is a perfect role player, and without him we are just not the same. He brings excellent defense, shooting, and very smart play to the table.

He is important in the little things, not a big stats guy just his presence on the court makes a big difference.

Re: AP is important or just coincident???
I don't think AP is as immensely important as some people will have you think, but I think his presence on the court is still undeniable.
This guy is by far our best defender, guards the opposing team's best player every night. There are games like the one against the Lakers where we wouldn't have had a chance in hell to win if it wasn't for AP's defense.
This guy is also probably our best, if not second best three point threat. What is also a great attribute is that this guy never takes a bad shot. He's not going to go 0 for 7 or 1 for 8 too often. And if he does, he does the little things like rebounding, making the extra pass that really help this team.
I think he is the most important player to this team after Bosh, simply because of our lack of depth at his spot. Sure we have Graham and Mo Pete behind him, but they just haven't been able to consistantly get the job done. You may argue that TJ Ford or Calderon have a bigger impact, but I'm not so sure because if either one of them is out, the other one usually does an adequate job of stepping up.

Re: AP is important or just coincident???
I think MO is maybe becoming a issue re his desire for more PT and the likelyness he knows he wont be here next year.
