Now we are 6 ahead of NJ.
Outrebound them? Wow, that's impressive.
Bosh with another monster game.
Bring on AI and Melo.

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
The Magic are a mess. How does Brian Hill get a contract extension with his team playing passionless like that? Its almost like they are trying to force some stability on that franchise.
I don't think I overestimated the talent on that squad when I mentioned that they are more robust and experienced than the Raptors, but when you have virtually no perimeter shooting working for you, and it leads to double- and triple-teams on Howard in the post, your offense is going to suffer. No wonder they are in the dredges right now (no thanks to Howard's atrocious free throw shooting as well).
Keyon Dooling continues to be a hothead. Kind of sad that the only player to display any emotion for the Magic went overboard and cost his team a tech foul. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I thought the officiating was really inconsistent tonight.
Hope to see the same level of effort on Friday.

Good win for the Raps, hopefully we can go on a run and close the door. And I hope TJ and Parker will be back for Friday, we are gonna need them.

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
tj ford played well tonite an he moved the ball around much better than he did against the knicks.
the magics defence was 'soft' so tj could do his dribbling thing ... but against better defence like the knicks played .. tj is just taken out of his game
when the raps are in the playoff season the defences will harden up an then we will see if tj can do the job or not

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
is it just me or does TJ look away from Juan whenever they are on the floor toghether, i think i counted 2-3 times Juan was open and TJ drove instead of passing the ball.
Also another scoreboard **** up, early in the 3rd Q Howard picked up a foul and on the scoreboard at the ACC they gave it to Rasho as far as i know they didnt add one to Howard

maybe tj has tunnel vision when he decides to drive with the ball cause when he gets stopped he seems to lose control. players like Nash will always keep their cool and manage to bail out easily.
it's a mind thing that makes tj look like hes not under control.

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
I don't watch much of the Magic, but why aren't they constantly feeding Howard? Guy shot 6/8 in 43 minutes. he should have taken 8 FG attempts by the half.
mind boggling.

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
I haven't seen much of the Magic the last two years, but they look horrible and I just don't see the upside. Howard will be an anchor in the middle and keep them from being a bottom feeder but he doesn't have an offensive game outside 6 feet right now and he has to start shooting FT's better. Darko was invisible in 20 minutes. Grant Hill is likely gone and he is still their 2nd best player. Turk and Ariza on the wings is serviceable but won't scare anyone. And Nelson is just an OK starting PG. Overall it looks like a bad mix, especially when GHill retires or leaves.
Still they could have easily won this game with decent FT shooting a just a couple of made shots.
TJ was horrible in the first quarter, playing waaaaayyyyy out of control. Even 1 assist he got to Rasho for an open foul line shot came after a wild drive where he barely saved the ball inbounds and was looking for anyone to pass it to out of desperation. And plays like the shot clock violation which probably was charged against Bosh was TJ's fault for killing the clock and giving it to CB with only a second left. Overall TJ's 5 official TO's aren't bad for the minutes he played tonight but there are always several bobbled passes that could have been layups with a better delivery and wild drives that are near turnovers and kill the clock. Plus the possessions where he is just determined to get his shot no matter what. He is a sloppy player too often.
That one great play where he made the 4 and then stole the ball for the alley-oop seemed to turn his half around and get him going. Surprisingly nbatv didn't even put that on its top 10 of the night.
Bosh was a monster. He brings it every night, even when he is having an off night.
Have to say Raps got lucky tonight though. Low scoring effort, low percentage shooting usually means Raps lose. And the D was not great other than being physical on Howard and doubling him right away. Magic just missed- layups and open shots. Led to 45 defensive rebounds. Magic were awful.
MoP looks stoned or something. I see no life in his eyes. Its like he's checked out of Toronto already. Although I did see him jump up and cheer from the bench after a big play.
Graham continues to rebound and shoot well when he gets minutes. Hump was very physical on D and has good strength inside, but I still wish Sow and Slokar had been given minutes earlier in the year. Dixon is a very nice offensive weapon. Finishes pretty well inside for his size.

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
i wonder when dumars'll finally begin to take some flack for milicic to rival babcock's for araujo. i don't like the 'bust' label, in general, but i fail to see how you can vary the criteria for it. some guys get a free pass... not just gm's, players too, coaches, etc. you're just left to wonder why they get the free pass.
milicic doesn't look like a player who's "learning the game" anymore so much as he's found himself stuck with random talents he can't seem to use effectively. he's not a bad player by any stretch, but the fact that he was chosen ahead of carmelo anthony, chris bosh and dwyane wade seems ludicrous today- it nears extraordinary. he'll obviously never reach their level, but he's not even in the discussion. i'd want whoever was singing his praises initially (because there were many- including leo rautins, for example) to have the balls to step up and admit how far he's fallen below their expectations ("yes, i would've chosen milicic ahead of bosh"). only then would i listen to their valuations of any player in the future. as it stands, it's just people/critics/fans/others hiding behind the blanket of time- hoping that their peers will simply forget the things that were said long ago.
someone will pay big bucks for this kid this summer, probably new york or whoever can manage an S&T, and unless something totally unforeseen were to happen, he'd become the proverbial 'bust' again. i can't remember the last time a player got that label- and deserved that label- twice.
peace

Re: Magic @ Raptors, Mar. 21st
Hard to say if Darko would be much better if he went to a losing team and was given major minutes from year 1.
We are talking about a kid that is a year younger than Lebron. Bosh got to play a major role on a good college team and then played big minutes year 1 of the nba. Darko sat for both those years in terms of age. Sure he got to practice and be around some great post players in DET but nothing compares to real competition in games. He may be ruined as a player by losing 3 important years where you would expect major improvement.
To me he looks mentally weak. Which means he will never be a great player. He's got the body and the skills. Just not the toughness and determination. Someone will offer him between the MLE of 6 mill and the big man standard of 10 mill per year. The Knicks gave Jerome James a full MLE contract just last year.
