Sticking Charlotte with a pretty low pick
As of right now I think our pick is projected to be 22. After all this time since the Lammond Murray trade, the pick we're going to lose is going to be in the bottom third of the first round. As big a fan of the draft and building through the draft that I am, losing this pick really isn't going to hurt much at all.
That's just a nice feeling isn't it? This pick has been looming for years, to the point where making playoffs in previous years could have been disastrous to the rebuilding process. No longer- this monkey is coming off our back at the perfect time and I, for one, am pretty damn glad that good ol Lammond is going cost us a pick in the 20s rather than 15 or 16.

Good timing as far as I'm concerned.
Grunwald knew we'd probably be on the upswing by the time we were forced to give it up.
The last thing we need is yet another young player to wait on.

I agree about getting that monkey off you're back.
Imagine being the Hawks this year? How they may have to give their pick to the Suns, that blows.
And for Charlotte it'll be a good year to have another first rounder.

Re: Sticking Charlotte with a pretty low pick
The only downside is that this is projected to be one of the deepest drafts ever. Even a bottom third pick could turn out good. Of course, that assumes Jordan knows how to draft...

Are you saying taking Kwame "stonehands" Brown as the 1st overall was a bad pick?
It was; terrible pick.

Agreed...unless of course Colangelo wants to work some magic and get a pick to take Marco Belinelli...who is ironically slaited in at the 22 spot on the draftexpress mock. Maybe BC can just look deep into MJ's eyes and say...we don't owe you a pick any more.

Imagine the Hawks not having Joe Johnson. It was a good deal for them.

I doubt that losing a non-lotto pick would have been "disastrous" to a rebuilding porcess. I'm just confused by that statement. Obviously we would be a playoff team to lose that pick with youth, so one non-lotto pick would not have made a huge difference.
When did we lose full protection on this pick - 2009?
Cleveland must have had faith in us as well.

I'd take
Chris Paul
Josh Childress
Josh Smith
Harrington/Diaw
Zaza
+ 2 lotto picks

Yeah maybe they would have only gotten 22 wins so far ... great deal.

That was just a bad deal. The Suns were not going to match the offer to Johnson, I don't think it was neccesary to give up so much.

That assumes Billy Knight knows what he's doing. Which he doesn't. I've no idea how he still has a job.

Re: Sticking Charlotte with a pretty low pick
He's waiting on drafting a 6'8" PG and a 6'8" Center.
