i still think that alston and james were better than tj at pg mainly because they were better athletes. tj is light at 165 lbs and gets tossed around when hit. i hope he can hold up under playoff defences.

the trouble with tjs chaos is that the rest of the team is not prepared for his wild decisions cause they prefer a controlled euroball style of play.

You certainly gained a lot of credability by saying Alston, and James were better PG's then TJ. If you didn't seem overly biased befor then you certiantly do now. Athletic? Did you see the game against Minny where Ford destroyed James off the bounce and threw it donw? Athlete! Psssh.

For the record I don't hate TJ at all. I don't think he is irreplaceable by any means though. I am quite happy with the combo overall but want Sam to go with the hot guard down the stretch of games.

TJ just plays the game so differently than Jose that his mistakes look ten times worse. He tries to make spectacular plays instead of solid, steady plays that Jose favours. And when those plays go bad he looks very dumb for even attempting them.

Being a weaker rebounding team and also a team that shoots a good percentage it is vital to our success that we not turn the ball over very often. TJ's assist to turnover rate is quite poor and on top of that some of his bad shot decisions are like TO's as well, even though they don't count as TOs. That has to improve.

I like his jump shot when he has the open set shot, and when he backs his man up at the foul line for the easy shot, and even the little fader from inside the elbow. I can live with those shots in the flow of the offense. Those are his shots and he is shooting a decent percentage on them.

I just hope he can develop his decision making skills and we see some progress next year so we can all agree that it is happening.

It's quite obvious TJ isn't perfect, and dose make a lot of mistakes out there. However I live with them because I know for TJ to be effective out there he needs to know that he can push his game to the limits, and won't get the hook if he fudges up. He can only have confidence in his game if the coaching staff and fanbase has confidence in him. He can only play on a higher level if he keeps pushing his game furhter and further. It's certaintly a luxary to have a point guard like Calderon who plays such a different style of game to be able to come in and take over if TJ has a rough night as well. To me they are the perfect compliment to each other. We have a great situation, and to put any terrible spin on it is detrimental to the team.

That's the stupidest ****ing thing I've ever read in my entire life. And I can't stress that enough. Which is too bad because you actually brought up a decent point: there is an inferiority complex around here sometimes. It's like it's the early 90s and everyone's all into their teen angst. I esp. dislike long, agonizing posts with circular logic, which happen with disturbing regularity here.

We should all be enjoying this, as I suspect the majority are now. There will always be doomsayers and people like that but hopefully they'll go underground and let the rest of us enjoy the playoff run and what should be another exciting summer.

On Topic: I am by no means a doomsayer, I love our current run, the positive attention we get and will definately be watching the Raptors live in the Playoffs.

Off Topic: Ford and Calderon make a near perfect combo. Ford can sometimes get out of control, Calderon sometimes allows the offense to go stagnant. Offensively a perfect point gaurd breaks down the defense to get his team open shots, controls the ball and keeps his teammates involved. Between Ford and Calderon we have a very very effective duo, during a bad stretch, pretty well all Mitchell has to do is change point gaurds and our team gets a boost. We all need to relax and stop arguing over who is the better point guard, being able to argue this is a blessing, everyone smile... Playoffs are coming!

A guy opens a thread and says- Stop complaining about everything, our situation is good and we have a good bball team. In the particular- stop complaining about our pg.

And then what happens? A "TJ/Calderon is a better pg!!!!!" discussion all over the thread. Great. Just great.
Somebody has just didn't get the message...

And that's okay. After all, the argument was interesting until somewhere in the middle of the thread, but it was completely unnecessary and had almost nothing to do with the first post of this thread.

Because bottome line is- it doesn't matter who plays the PG better for us.
The Raptors are winning as a team, this year.
Both PGs are part of a system, and this system works, so it doesn't matter who's better and who's more suitable for the team.
Sure, there's plenty of room for improvement, and if the Raps continue to play like this they'll be a nice team, but not a team that'll reach anything serious. No glory, no greatness...
But the Raps have great management, good coaching staff and a very promissing core of young talented players who will probably improve their game in the future.
This year, we have got every thing we asked and way more. We wanted and expected 10 more wins this season- we got 20(!!) more wins. That's huge!!
We wanted to sneak into the playoffs and meet Detroit or Miami and 1st round? Who's sneaking? We're charging into the playoffs, have home court advantage for one round or maybe even two, and if we see Miami or Detroit it would be at the conference finals!
Who would've believed?
So stop those unending arguments, sit back and enjoy the rest of this year, because no matter what happens in the playoffs, we are the winners of this season. Period.

And if things don't improve next year, see- great managemant.
So again, we have young stars, good coach, excellent GM...
25 teams in the NBA should really envy us. So what's the problem?

And BTW, the only one who has to right to complain is myself.
The Raptors just found the time to rise.
In the next few years the Raptors are going to be terrific and make good playoff runs.

In the army! With little or none communtication with the outside world, almost no time at home, and a slim chance to watch my favourite team play.

I love the Raptors - these Raptors. We're a better team than ever before. Hands down IMO. I can't wait to see what we can do in the playoffs.

No, we're not perfect and we're not the best team in the league but this team has only been together for one season! We're young and we've already come so far in such little time.

I, for one, am most definitely one happy and well-pleased Raptor fan. I know I was a pretty happy Raptor fan racking up the losses at this time last year but this is a different kind of happiness to be sure.
