Chinese government won't allow Yi Jianlain to play in Milwaukee?
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....rehash/1.html
Reportedly.
My guess is there is a shortlist of teams he will go to, mostly made up of the big market cities.
Would anyone here be interested in him for the Raps?

Nah, Yi would just be a duplicate of what we already have. Although a Yi/Bosh/Bargs frontcourt would be interesting assuming we were to acquire him without giving up bosh or bargs

There is virtually no chance the Bucks get a good deal for him if they wind up trading him. If they can't keep him this will go down as a major blunder for them.
Odds makers are putting the smart money on Golden State picking him up.

Re: Chinese government won't allow Yi Jianlain to play in Milwaukee?
it's absurd no matter how you look at it, and there are two ways: 1) the chinese gov't doesn't want him to play in milwaukee; 2) yi doesn't want to play in milwaukee.
if it's 2), we've seen it before and it should've been wiped out a long time ago. if you say you're ready for the nba, it should be unconditional. just play. the league is a league, no one component bigger than another (in theory), so just play. there's a reason why there aren't just 3 teams in the league. if you can't handle that, don't choose to play with an asterisk. just don't play at all.
chances are, though, it's probably 1). and that's just a sign of the times, i guess. why any government feels the need to poke its fingers in people's business on the other side of the world is beyond me. i think it's an issue with the state of the world in general. hands off, you know?
peace

Re: Chinese government won't allow Yi Jianlain to play in Milwaukee?
To be honest, I've been reading through some Chinese websites and most of them say that it's the Yi's agent that is oppose of Yi playing in Milwaukee, not the government.
I really don't see why the Chinese Government would be that against of Yi playing in a Chinese-less environment. A regular NBA fan in China does not care about whether Yi plays in LA or Albuquerque, their eyes will be glued to Yi's every move no matter where he goes. The goal for the Chinese government for sending Yi to the NBA is to improve their national team's play, particular the upcoming Olympics. That goal can be met better if Yi goes to a team that needs him, and Bucks apparantly does. As far as adapting to new environments, any US city will be a drastic improvement to any Chinese city especially Guangdong (Yi's hometown). For anyone that has never been to Guangdong, that place sucks, even compare to other Chinese cities. In fact, if anyone is visiting China anytime soon, Guangdong would be a place that I recommend you to avoid. Theres nothing to do there and pretty much nothing to see and the place is at least 20 times dirtier than any US/Canada Chinatown you have ever been in.
I just don't see it to be that big of a deal. The only problem in Milwaukee would be that it's a bit cold in the winter, but other than that, he should have no problems.

Re: Chinese government won't allow Yi Jianlain to play in Milwaukee?
I'm surprised the NBA would bow to the government's wishes. Shows that everyone, even Dictator Stern, bows to the almighty dollar (or yuan).
Imagine the reaction if Stephen Harper demanded that Steve Nash play for a big market. Or if Sarkozy demanded that Tony Parker play in a city with more French speakers.

Re: Chinese government won't allow Yi Jianlain to play in Milwaukee?
As shallow as it is, I don't care, I'm on Yi's side and the government side, his agent's side, blame my asian genes, I want him to be playing with a team that will fit. For crying out loud, they have CV and Bogut, they expected CV or Yi to play the 3? Please. I must admit that with Yi going there the Bucks would rise on my fav teams list and I would keep an eye on them more often but that has much more to do with the Yi and CV tandem than the team itself.
Trade Yi!!!! I want to see him on GS or Phx even Atlanta would of been better. Without having to break up the Bosh and Gnani duo, if we could add Yi, I would give up Ford any day, that would essentially be CV for Yi, I can live with that.

If I was Milwaukee I'd tell the government to go **** themselves and not trade him. If he refuses to play, so be it. I wouldn't trade him, just out of spite.

Milwaukee set themselves up in this postition, they knew the implications of drafting Yi and did it anyways.

If they want to pick him, they have every right. Players (or agents) shouldn't be able to pick where the players go. That takes away from the whole idea of the draft.

No, players shouldn't, but take a ****ing hint!!! It was VERY dumb of the bucks, I think everybody fails to see that NONE of the bucks got to see him work out. that's pretty god damn stupid.
