Andres Nocioni
If BC had given him the same offer sheet (possibly longer?), do you think the Bulls would've matched the offer or do you see another team offering more than in the area of 6-million per year? I'd rather see Nocioni here than Kapono as he brings a rebounder and defense - two attributes which we clearly need.

Re: Andres Nocioni
If it was likely that Toronto could have got him, I think Kapono would still be unsigned. You guys have plenty of assets to trade, but Chicago doesn't really need swingmen. I suppose it's still possible.

Re: Andres Nocioni
i'm starting to feel that we didn't want to take a chance. if we'd signed an RFA like nocioni to an offer sheet, we would've had to wait 7 days to see if chicago would match or not, and those 7 days might've seen all our plan B's get scooped up by other teams. you just don't want to tie yourself up in the 7-day period that is july 11 - 18, it's too risky.
or maybe kapono was truly our first option. which is fine and not entirely out of the question either.

Re: Andres Nocioni
if the price of nocioni goes to 6-8 million per year, the bulls will consider a sign and trade. i wonder if they would do a trade for garbo+dixon (~7 million) for nocioni.
That would really improve our team.
ford / calderon
parker / delfino
nocioni / kapono / graham
bosh / humphries
bargnani / nesterovic

That trade really comes down to Nocioni or Garbo, which would Paxson rather have? I think the answer is Noci. Dixon would get buried behind Hinrich, Duhon, Gordon, and Sefolosha. I doubt we could pull that off without adding another piece that might interest them (Joey G?)

that's exactly what I thought, not just for Nocioni, but for Peitrus as well. BC probably already knew who was going to get matched and decided it was probably a waste of time.
they might have caught Miami by surprise too, thinking that the bigger free agents would sign first then the smaller fries like Kapono would be eaten up later.

Re: Andres Nocioni
I don't think we could've landed Noc with what we offered Kapono. I don't know what Chicago intends to do with him, but I bet they would've matched that deal without blinking had he signed an offer sheet with us.

Re: Andres Nocioni
Based on this article:
http://www.basketballforum.com/chica...ers-smith.html
The Bulls will not let Nocioni go for nothing.... I think we were smart to grab Kapono, and not get caught up in the sweepstakes for a guy that will probably end up back with Chicago anyways. At least we know what we have.

yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. I never expected Noc to leave Chicago, even if he was URA.

Re: Andres Nocioni
True, Chicago will match any reasonable offer. I suppose a sign-and-trade still works. Think Paxson wants Joey Graham and someone else for Nocioni?
