Hump's role solidified?
Having added Kapono, Hump's role as the fast-breaking garbage man becomes even more important. I think Mitchell is going to turn up the offense even more and Kris's improving game is going to win out for minutes (vs Rasho).
Hump was pretty raw last year but I've forgotten just how well he performed at times. He provided fantastic energy off the bench.
He finishes around the hoop and is starting to get more comfortable using his offensive weapons. He's got a great motor, strength and athleticism. He can get up the court ahead of guards, go for the offensive board, and get back on defense in time. He's got good report with Mitchell and is starting to gain the trust of his teammates.
We might think we need to add an athletic rebounder but we're not going to find anyone better than Hump in free agency.

Re: Hump's role solidified?
If we stick with the bigs we have--Bargs, Bosh, Garbo, and Rasho--Humphries should get some burn this upcoming season. He was one of the most consistent players we had last year, though unheralded. I don't know if Bryan has plans for a trade to get us something up front, but if not, Kris is going to have to be our grind line type guy. I like him quite a bit and I think he can be an important player for us.

Re: Hump's role solidified?
Humps really impressed me with his attitude last year. He went after boards hard and hustled every minute, even though he may have got overly eager and jacked up a few to many shots in his playing time! The sort of player the Raptors require simply because of the grit he seems to carry between his teeth, hopefully he and Delfino can glue and go after them boards, lord knows with our 3pt shooting team were going to need a few boards no and then!
Final Words - Keep Hump

Re: Hump's role solidified?
humph was solid for us. he brings it in games and i'd bet is a super practice player. sam showed a lot of confidence in him in the playoffs. he's a good fit -- a lot of teams are probably thinking the same thing but as mentioned, he not easily replaced.
i think we're bringing back slokar, too. bc must have anticipated that uros would have a very small role with the team last year. why waste his nba rights and a roster spot if they weren't planing on holding on to him?
bosh, bargnani, garbajosa, humphries, nesterovic, slokar is 6 bigs --a number bc pointed out in a recent interview: 3guards, 6wings, 6bigs-- there's been some talk of going after another backup pf/c. that'd either take us off the 3/6/6 balance or spell the end to slokar.
is there any chance pape returns?

Re: Hump's role solidified?
with no talk of upgrading in the rebounding area it really seems that they believe that improvment will come from withen the team Bargs & Hump
PF & C rotation
PF Bosh Garbo Hump
C Bargs Rasho Hump
I think we see Garbo less at SF with e the addition of Kopomo & Delfino I think he will only play there vs elite SF's play tough agressive D to piss them off get them off thier game.

Re: Hump's role solidified?
If we could find a way to acquire a third guard (Vujacic or Udrih, some examples) and a rebounder for Humphries and Dixon, your team may be set. Reggie Evans, in my opinion, would be a terrific addition. He is a tough, hard-nosed rebounder.

Evans is a rebounding machine. In the games he played 30 or more minutes this past season, he grabbed an astonishing 68 rebounds (17 per). His per-40/per-48 rebounding rate is actually one of the more accurate prognostic individual stats in the NBA.
You can probably tell it was coming--here is the but:
But he is a terrible offensive player. It would lead to endless double teams on CB4. Despite being a dirty player and a big time rebounder, Evans could make Bosh's life more difficult--especially with the fact that Reggie is undersized for centre.
I personally prefer Hump, who is cheaper, five years younger, is more competent offensively, and is a better character guy than Grabby McBallsack. Hump isn't the rebounder that Evans is, but he is decent, and I think he fits the team better.

Grabby McBallsack?
Awesome, that says it all speeds.
I'm willing to wait to see what Hump bring this season now that he knows he has a spot on the team and will get minutes. I think last year he was looking to prove himself too much, which would explain some of the forced shots.

Re: Hump's role solidified?
We must remember how young Hump is, he will only turn 23 this season(Feb). If Bargs shows an improved rebounding game for us at the 5 spot, having Rasho, Garbajoa, and Humphries off of the bench is not that bad of a big man rebounding rotation.
I would very much like to see us sign Kris to a cheap multi year deal when we can, I feel it will be a bargain down the road.

Re: Hump's role solidified?
Apparently he's putting up a lot of shots to get ready for the season (600 a day according to some hoopshype article). That's not really his role per se but it is important that everyone on the court can hit shots and keep the defense honest.
One aspect of Hump's game that I love is his ability to hit runners. That really isn't that common for a big guy. He'd get by his man laterally, go up strong off one foot away from the D, and kiss it softly off the glass. I like.
We're so deep that you have to be skeptical whether Hump will get many minutes but he's one of our stronger finishers, rebounders, and he can really sprint in the open court.

We may see Garbo's minutes very limited early in the season, the Raps don't seem to think he is asa healthy as he thinks he is. That would free up some decent minutes for Hump early in the season.

1 word. Maceo Baston
seems nobody is talkinjg about him.. yall gonna be surprised this year huh
i think kris deserves time, but i see maceo taking his minutes if they aren't on the court in tandem together.
