OT: Magloire to New Jersey?
Frankly I'm glad that we aren't hearing anything about him with relation to the Raptors. I really want no part of him.
He is a decent rebounder, an average defender, pretty slow footed and a fairly weak offensive player. I actually wouldn't mind the signing from an Atlantic Division perspective as it means the Nets won't get a better player with their MLE.
If Magloire was a good starting centre you think there would be teams trying to get him, rather than having him slip in the back door with Mikki Moore getting more interest and money.
Hard to believe Mikki Moore is going to cash-in so heavily this summer. Took him a long-*** time to get there.

Re: OT: Magloire to New Jersey?
Mikki Moore isn't going to cash in heavy. Matter of fact, he may have to settle for the Nets offer of 3/12 becuase teams aren't showing much interest as he thought they would. The Bulls want Joe Smith or Mihm before him, the Sixers have no interest and the only other team is the Rockets.
Magloire is a backup plan.

Magloire is useless. I'm glad someone else finally realized that he's a terrible fit for the Raptors.

Re: OT: Magloire to New Jersey?
I wouldn't say Magloire is useless, it's just that he hasn't really been given a chance since he was an all star, he didn't have a big roll with the Blazers, and he was injured for a bit in recent years. Also Magloire is an improvement from Collins, and the Nets wouldn't look for him to score because they already have Carter and Jefferson(that's if he doesn't get traded) so he would be needed for blocking shots and rebounding which he can do both. So he would be a good pick up for the Nets.

Re: OT: Magloire to New Jersey?
He should never have been an All-Star. It was a fluke the year he made it. He's 6-11 (or whatever) so he SHOULD be good at rebounding and blocking. It goes with being that tall. Other than that, he doesn't do anything except be slow on the court.
My issue with Magloire is that many people want the Raptors to sign him because he's Canadian. I think that's a stupid reason to sign someone.

Umm.. the guy put up 10/10 in 25 mpg with the Bucks. He's known as a good rebounder and a physical presence. He would be a great fit for a halfcourt set and would allow Bosh to stay on the perimeter where he is most comfortable. Magloire also has a good post game which has always been his strong suit.

Re: OT: Magloire to New Jersey?
Personally, I'm hoping we sign Magloire and not Mikki but Mikki has run out of options. The Bulls want Joe, Lakers might retain Mihm, GS and Dallas were never interested, and Houston is not out after the trade they just completed. He may be had for real cheap value. Hell, with the way things are going for Mikki, the Nets might be able to retain him and sign Magloire.

Well, considering before this year the best true centre we've had was Eric Montross (not counting Camby since he didn't play), Magloire was a good fit in Toronto until we picked up Rasho. If we didn't get Rasho, it would be great if we pick up Magloire for 6-7 mil a year, which isn't that far away from what he'll probably end up getting.
Magloire would be great in New Jersey pairing up with Nenad and finally bumping Twin down to the bench.

MGS IS NO UPGRADE OVER COLLINS, Collins is a smart defender who had a preatty good year, been ages since Magoliore hada good year.

Collins sucks. On defense, he is great but offensively, he kills the Nets. Time to move him down to his natural position, which is backup Center.

Re: OT: Magloire to New Jersey?
I think Mags would be a good fit for the Nets. Him and Krstic would be good veteran mentors for the young'ns Williams and Boone. If Mags can do anything, it's bang in the paint and I gotta bet Nets fans would be hoping he could teach Boone a thing or two.

So true. I was a big Boone fan until the playoffs. I know he's a rookie but we needed him and he showed how soft he was. Getting OWNED by Varejo.
