you already told your stupid joke once in this thread. i'm sorry if you think we're homers for not wanting acie law and childress for calderon...but i'm gonna stick with that. i don't think anyone thought we would ever get smooth, but the point is you only trade starting caliber point guards for star potential or at least something more than two bench players.

Re: BC and Calderon talk extension
Actually, I wouldn't oppose a Calderon for Law and Childress trade if the team was in a different situation. If we didn't have anthony parker, delfino, kapono, and even graham, then yeah, I'd do the trade. but fact is we have some pretty good wing players who can all contribute, so keeping Calderon makes sense as we remain solid at SF, and fantastic at PG. The value of the trade is pretty even for both sides, but it just doesn't do this team any good.
I actually like Calderon over TJ, though that's in part because TJ has a bigger contract. I just think Calderon and TJ are both starting point guards but I like how Calderon is usually more in control and you know what you're getting from him every night. With TJ there's some consistency issues. Sometimes TJ look like Tony Parker out there with his quickness and penetration, and sometimes he look like a chicken with its head cut off. There's no denying TJ is a winner and has won whereever he goes, but I prefer Calderon.

Hawks have some solid pieces. They have a star player in Joe Johnson at the 2, a rising star in Josh Smith at 3, Marvin Williams who could be good at the 4, and ZaZa Pachulia who is solid at the 5. Shelden Williams can develope into a solid backup too. Josh Childress makes a good sixth man for them, but that team has a major hole at the 1 where Claxton is always injured and when he isn't, isn't playing very well. Jose would solve their PG problems instantly and that team is immediately a playoff team in the East. What's Josh Childress and Acie Law to them? Acie Law can do a solid job for a rookie but he's not chris paul. He's not taking that team to the playoffs. Childress is good but is a dime a dozen.. make that 4 dozen as there are a handful of swingman as good or better than childress.

Re: BC and Calderon talk extension
As a GM I would take Childress and Acie Law pretty damn quickly, buuuut I think I would wait until 20 games into the season to see if Joey, LJ or Delfino have been givener in the gym this summer and have solidified their games. I do think, it would be somewhat impatient to not wait till December to make a deal to shore up the SF position at this point.
That is all.

Re: BC and Calderon talk extension
i've seen nothing from childress to indicate he's better than Joey G right now. if Law ever reaches Jose's level, I'd be suprised.
