Toronto Update (2:53 PM): Bryan Colangelo has contacted the representatives of Jose Calderon in an effort to determine the cost of a possible extension with the backup guard. Colangelo is willing to pay MLE (or slightly above MLE) money for the PG. However, if Calderon demands a contract in line with TJ Ford and Maurice Williams, Colangelo will likely deal him during the middle of the season. Calderon will be a restricted free agent, however, given the demand for quality point guards, there's always risk involved if you let a player test the market.

I expect this is 100% true. It's what I expect a good GM to do.

He knows Jose is in a contract year and he wants to make sure that he doesn't let a quality asset like that walk for nothing. He's going to appraise his value, by asking Jose's reps and discussing with GM's around the league.

He knows that it doesn't make sense to pay 8 million a year to two different point guards, and will deal him if he thinks that's the neighborhood he'll demand.

If we can get it done it would be the best news of the off-season, for sure.

I highly doubt Jose commands "Mo Money" but I wouldn't be surprised if he wants TJ money, hopefully BC can negotiate well and get some Jedi Mind Tricks in. He is def worth TJ money, but I don't think we can afford it.

I have a good feeling about it, I think Jose likes to play in Toronto and likes to play with the Raptors so he will command less money.

I dont really care if he gets 8 million a year.. He's worth it IMO

Also, I think we all know TJ or Jose is gone.. this year will tell BC which one it is.. When you have two great point guards, and there are so many teams that need one.. plus you know they both want more time, and that they should.

I keep going back and forth on which one I want..

Jose is the better PG right now,
but, TJ is younger, and more athletic,
but, Jose stepped it up when it mattered the most, while TJ choked (playoffs),
but, TJ is more proven even though hes younger,
but, Jose isn't as prone to an injury.

lol, I just don't know. I think I'm leaning toward Jose just because his brilliant performance in the playoffs. You know what they say.. It's where legends are born.
