Jason Kapono
I just watched a series of youtube videos....Inside the Miami Heat Jason Kapono. THey were great, this guy is more stand-up then I thought. He worked as a cook all the way through school...right up to the week befor he left for the draft.
The one thing that was mentioned more then once was his "D". They mentioned that he was a good team defender, and that hi confidance has grown and he is more comfortablle gusrding one on one. He may not be a lock down guy, but he hould not be a matador either!
When BC made this signing I thought it was good, not great, but ok. Now I feel it may turn out to be better then I expected.
Ford and Calderon are solid at guarding the point position. AP is a better then average defender at the two. JK should be able to hold his own, with Delfino and Graham backing him and AP up....not too bad. Bosh is solid at the 4. The five with Rasho and an improved BArgs should be decent as well. No real hole in the rotation as far as I can see, we may not have the bangers to slow guys down, but we should be able to contain.

Re: Jason Kapono
I keep watching Raptor games in an hour and our team creates open 3-point shots with the greatest of ease. Kapono has an all-round game too but he's going to be be catching and shooting at a fantastic rate for us next year.

I thought I was the only one who watches RGIAH lol. I watched them vs. the Celtics, Kings, and Wizards today and I must see I can't wait for the season to start up!

I'm guessing you missed all those times both of these two got eaten by the other point guard?

What are you talking about? Ford and Calderon are excellent defenders for point guards, Ford especially with his unmatched quickness.

Re: Jason Kapono
Calderon is decent at guarding PG. Ford gets eaten alive by bigger PGs. I thought that was apparent last year when Kidd posted him up for 6 straight games.

Re: Jason Kapono
Ford does have a hard time with post up point guards, but he does a good job against keeping them from penetrating. I did not say he was fist team all defence, but as a tandem they are better then average.

Re: Jason Kapono
You guys are all hommers if you think both Ford and Calderon are good defenders. They both suck, and get taken for a ride everytime they defend.
And by the way, Onions, you need to start watching more games; or learn the concept of basketball.

Re: Jason Kapono
Calderon is an ok defender, he isn't that bad, he has gotten better since his rookie year, Ford is horrible though, gambles often and I remember him getting eaten by Jarrett JAck, but then again I am a Ford hater right?
sigh...

Re: Jason Kapono
Ford is good at guarding small and quick guards. If you go and watch that game against the Bulls last year, the Raptors couldn't stop Ben Gordon in the first half because Mitchell put AP on him. In the second half they switched Ford on Gordon and TJ did a masterful job in the second half.
Overall Calderon is a lot better defensively mostly due to his size and above average quickness. But against small and quick guards like AI, Gordon, Chris Paul, Marbury, and Conley and Raymond Felton in the future, Ford would still be the best option defensively for the Raptors right now.

Or maybe you need to start watching more games. I'll agree Ford isn't the greatest when biggers guards try and back him in but he is excellent at keeping guards infront of him and pressuring them on the ball. He rarely gets beaten on the drive and is always in their face preventing penetration.

Watch a game.
Calderon's average but like the others said, Ford gets abused even by slighty bigger point guards.

Dude, you're the same guy preaching that Jose Calderon is a top 5 point guard in the league.
