Re: Concerning your International Flava'

The biggest obstacle right now is crossing the border into and out of Canada, IMO. Until both sides sort out what kind of ID they will require it will continue to be a hassle.

Also, for VP, what about players who would otherwise become permanent residents of Toronto? Doesn't having to be out of the country for x-number of days force them to have two homes rather than one?

Uhhh, that's what I said. The perception is that you get slammed with taxes. The reality is that that's not the case.

Re: Concerning your International Flava'

Narrator - I was agreeing with you.

I don't recall any Raptors making Toronto their year round home - are there any examples? I guess Glen Grunwald would sort of qualify. My friend used to see Hakeem Olaujuwon at his local loblaws during the winter months - but I think the Dream lives in Houston most of the time.

If a US resident moved to Canada, they would likely pay higher taxes than if they lived permanently in the US. But at the same time they wouldn't have to pay for basic healthcare, highway tolls (except the 407), or taxes on gambling winnings (we know NBA ballers love the black-jack tables). Also, they'd get paid in US dollars with all expenses in Canadian dollars which would have been a HUGE bonus 5 years ago but would still save you about 5% on anything you buy.

Altogether, someone making $3M or more would hardly notice a tax difference living in either country.
