Re: SI Grades Raps Off-Season: A-
I don't think so. We didn't add any perimeter defense nor rebounding. If Boston gets an A+, I don' see how we can get an A-.
I would give us a B or B-, at the best.

Delfino is an upgrade in terms of perimeter D, maybe not Kapono but Delfs for sure.

I love what they did especially if and when they add Allen Houston.

You guys are better off with Antoine Wright than Houston. I like Wright's defense off the bench. You guys need an upgrade at backup PG though. Having Marcus Williams on the floor means you're playing 4 on 5 on defense.

Ehh, they must include the momentum of last season's success into the rating because Toronto didn't really do a whole lot. But you know as they say, less is more a lot of the times.

Re: SI Grades Raps Off-Season: A-
What is an 'A-' anyway. I always thought you get B+ or an A or an A+
I think Raps fall into the B+ range. Solid but not spectacular. Replaced the inconsistent MoP with 2 very nice wing players. One is a better shooter, and the other a better creator than Mo. Keeping Mitchell means some consistency for a club that needed it badly. No draft choice to mess up. Everyone pretty healthy heading into the season.
You always want to do more but our top 9 is very good.

What have the Raptors addressed? They need inside defense and rebounding and they haven't addresed that. Sorry, I don't think adding another shooter in Kapono really solves much of the Raps problems that were so evident in the playoffs.
The Raps improvement comes form inter-growth. Guys like Ford and Bosh getting better but there Center position is still a gaping hole they haven't addressed. The Raps got bullied and tossed around in the paint by guys like Mikki Moore and Jason COllins, you're lucky you guys even played us in the playoffs since you had the best chance of beating our weak frontcourt.

We need a third string PG who can defend. Marcus is going to be fine at backup PG. Wright is not very good either. He can defend and cut to the basket but he can't hit a jumpshot to save his life and kills our offense. Basically another Jason Collins. Boki can't defend, neither could House but both got time and they both could've knocked down treys, something hopefully Allen can do.
We weren't going to sign Houston but after Frank and Brian Hill went to go see him workout, they gave him a non-guaranteed contract offer immediately. Must have saw something they liked.

lol the last part of your post was funny First off the Raps have less holes to fill than Nj thats why we didn't make as many moves imo I feel inside defense has been addressed with the signing Maceo Baston and Jamario Moon they are not major signings that will turn heads but both are athletic players that block shots and fit our style of play that will help on defense. Rebounding I'll give you that thats still an issue but whats out there to sign to fix that Varaijo? not with his asking price.
Now as for Kapono we overpaid for him but that was the theme for everybody in the free agent market and when you look at his contract compared to the others his deal not as bad . Now He was brought in to help Chris Bosh and to prevent what you guys were doing to him in the playoffs with your double teams you wont be able to double Bosh anymore with Kapono and Parker hanging around this signing stretches the floor even further creating 1 on 1 chances for Bosh and Bargnani but in particular Bosh, The Centre position Fine Barg improved from what I seen from his games in italy. Finally I don't like playing the what if game whats done is done but I'm sure that nets/raps series would of ended in the raps favor if garbo was around and if bargnani was up to par but hey its in the past not I'm not going to be bitter about it

Ah ok. So the Raps decided not to make moves because they are complete? Got it.
Whatever. I said the same exact think last season and the Raps and there fans saw what happened in the playoffs. Half of you didn't even know who Maceo Baston was before the Raps signed him and if you've ever seen him, he's skinnier then Bosh. Another year of Rasho playing major minutes at Center is not going to solve any problems for the Raps.
Yes and I'm sure the Nets would have still taken the series if Krstic was around.
