"Hoops hobo" Moon gets his NBA shot
Quote:
No one knows much about Moon, a native of Goodwater, Ala. ("maybe 2,000 to 2,500 people ... one traffic light," he says), except that he'll be in training camp later this month with a non-guaranteed deal. He's been floating around the minors for six seasons and caught the eye of Raptor brass at a July free agent camp. It resulted in him getting an invitation to a NBA training camp for the first – and perhaps last – time.
"I've been to summer leagues and mini-camps, individual workouts, a ton of them," he said. "Luckily, Toronto saw something good in me. And I'm getting a chance."
Raptor coach Sam Mitchell knows a thing or two about guys like Moon. Mitchell carved out his 13-year NBA career the hard way, small college, minor leagues, a chance he made the most of, and there's a kinship between the two.

So... hopefully Moon can pull through and possibly even take Darrick Martin's spot on the roster. Might turn out to be another Arroyo, so I'm glad the Raptors are giving dude a chance.

Martin isn't going anywhere. He will be on the team this season.
If we hadn't signed Baston, I'd say Moon had a shot. As it is now he is the next Corey Williams. Cut.

The only way I see him making the roster is if the team decides that Delfino can be a third point guard. This would allow them to make Martin an assistant coach, he stays with the team, and if we have an injury to a guard he is there to suit up.

Well, Martin's non-signing thus far leaves room for speculation. After all, there is one spot open. With that said, I'm confident Martin will be on the team this season, but in what capacity?

Also, I don't think Luke Jackson's contract is guaranteed for this season, is it?
I like Jackson but his interests might be better served on another team.

Re: "Hoops hobo" Moon gets his NBA shot
Indubitably (wow, I never thought I'd use that word ever). After having replaced Mo with Kapono and added Delfino, Jackson's status is effectively relegated from redundant to unnecessary.
After how he performed for us at the end of the year last season, I wouldn't be surprised to see him snatched up quick if other teams are given a shot at signing him.

Re: "Hoops hobo" Moon gets his NBA shot
you'd kinda think that with their limited resources, cleveland might look to a couple of former players - luke jackson and dejaun wagner - to fill out their depth.
Moon still has a shot. We've got decent athleticism on the wing with AP, Delf, and Joey but we're still below league average in that regard.
