who do you prefer at centre for next season
Sam Mitchell said the only starters that are set in stone are tj and bosh. if thats the case id prefer to have the attacking minded Andrea Bargnani at centre like we had at the final few games of the playoffs rather than rasho who is solid but disappointing at times

I would go with Bargnani most of the games, and play Rasho when we play against teams with decent centers.

If Bargs is ready then we should start him but I dont think its good to have him switching in and out with Rasho as starters though

Yea, I agree with choco. Last thing you want to do with a rook is start rotating him in and out of a starting role, it would most likely hurt his consistency and confidence. Rasho's a better defender but Bargs offensive is invaluable to us.

i agree so Sam should stay with whoever he decides to start for most of the season, which is more important as a starter rashos defense or Andreas offense is the real question , hit them hard early or stop them from scoring

Re: who do you prefer at centre for next season
I'd go with Bargnani and try and coexist him with Bosh a.s.a.p. Might be a little chemistry problems the first few games but once both of them can work with each other for 35 minutes a game we will be nasty.

Re: who do you prefer at centre for next season
Start Rasho until Gnani becomes a decent defender, we have enough firepower with Bosh, Ford, most likely Kap and AP.
If Kapono starts, we have enough 3pters with AP and JK so we will need offense off the bench.

Re: who do you prefer at centre for next season
Depends on match-ups. If it's a big banging center (i.e. Shaq), start Nesterovic. If it's not, start Bargnani at the 5. I suppose the other alternative is to go with a huge line-up of Bargnani, Bosh, and Nesterovic. That would be interesting.

I don't think that is the way you go. Shaq is not as dominant as he once was, sure he is still great, but I find he does not play as big of a role in the outcome of a game as he use to. Let the starters be the starters, we don't pull Ford when he starts against bigger point guards, so why do it with another position.
I would love to see Bargs as the starter, but I think we will go with Rasho to Start the season, this will allow Andrea to come in off the bench for either Bosh or Rasho. My guess is that by December we will see Bargnani as the regular starter.

Re: who do you prefer at centre for next season
Well, in the East we have Eddy Curry, Dwight Howard, Ilgauskas, and Shaq. Unless Bargnani buffs up significantly we will need to turn to Rasho to guard these people. It's not that they will score on Bargnani, it's that they will likely put Bargnani in quick foul trouble if we match him up all game.

Big Z is of no concern, Shaq will abuse anyone, Howard has no post game, and Curry can cause problems, but lets see him guard Bosh or Bargnani.

Re: who do you prefer at centre for next season
I just said, it's not always about scoring. We will get severely out-rebounded and Bargnani will probably get into foul trouble because these guys will keep going at him on the offensive end.

Re: who do you prefer at centre for next season
i don't mean to take it off-topic but if sam really said that tj and bosh are his only sure things as starters, that could indicate a bit of a problem. or at least a potential problem.
bosh is a given. but that's it. if you're not going to include parker in the discussion, then you shouldn't include tj either. the neverending tj/calderon controversy is only made worse (imo) by trying to act smart and remain in denial. i like tj and i like his game, but to imply that parker should be looking behind him (and at who? kapono? graham? delfino? who?) while tj shouldn't leaves me feeling a bit uneasy.
calderon is a good player, clearly in tj's league. so to try and maintain a division there- even if it's only for the media, since i don't know what it really means to be a 'starter' anyway- suggests a potential problem, in my view, at least down the road. this is not the way to handle this controversy now, imo. the longer you try to deny that these guys are indeed peers in most (if not all) categories, the greater the chance you won't be able to pull yourself out of that denial later. you don't want to force yourself to play tj ford (or jose calderon) in the event that 'things' happen that would otherwise lead you to play the other guy.
i've said it before but i'll say it again: i think tj ford is, on the whole, being largely overrated by the team & media and underrated by the fanbase. i think statements like this by sam (assuming he said it) could be part of the reason why.
peace

Okay, if Shaq plays Miami is a different team. He's not 25/15 anymore but he still changes the game. You HAVE to game plan for that. You also cannot let Bargnani, for example, get abused on the block. He's not that kind of player. Nesterovic is. Nesterovic is not going to stop, say, Shaq but he will slow him down. Re: your point about Ford: it's a non-issue. Nobody's going to pound on Ford for 30-40 mins on the block. Also, you do see Ford pulled when an opposing PG starts posting him mercilessly. At least I did though I suppose I could be wrong.
Match-ups play a role in game planning. A good coach reads and reacts to those match-ups to benefit his team. If Nesterovic starting helps the team, it should happen. That said, it's not really about who starts the game but who finishes them. Dollars to donuts says Bargnani finishes 95% of the games (unless he fouls out).
