Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
Does he have any? What can we get for him?
He faded out of the rotation late last year but gave us good minutes immediately after the trade. Maybe we can bring in some depth upfront for him?
Just wondering since he doesn't look like he'll have a role on this team this year besides a bench warmer.

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
His expiring contract is probably his biggest value. If BC wants to trade him, he can probably get more than what we gave up to get Dixon (Fred Jones).

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
if you want value for Juan you have to package him with somebody hes barely worth a 2nd rounder alone at this point

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
In a package with one of Joey, Hump, or Baston might bring us something of value. Would it be a big enough of an upgrade to pull the trigger on a deal?

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
you know what i'm thinking, if juan dixon couldn't find pt playing for us, what team would he find pt playing for? so why would anyone else want him? this is almost the perfect situation for the man, imo. if he's not good enough for us, why would anyone think he'd be good enough for them? i know rebuilding teams need depth and could use a player like juan dixon, but is that his destiny in this league, to play for a rebuilding team? it must be frustrating for him. we're not championship-level yet but we do run 10 deep (at least) and he's still not part of the rotation- in fact, he's barely hanging onto his seat at the end of the bench. is he good enough to contribute meaningfully for a successful team? the answer appears to be no.
he's a nice guy and all but i have to say, he's done virtually nothing while he's been here. i almost forgot he was still a toronto raptor.
peace

I'd say the Heat. Dixon is probably a better player than that Brian Chase guy that's playing for them.
I have a strong feeling that Dixon will be in Europe after his stint with the Raptors is over though. The main thing I dislike about Dixon is that he cannot guard anybody on the court. Playing in Europe where he gets to play against less athletic and physically imposing players will probably suit his game better. He is a pretty good scorer, there will always be a need for players that can score.

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
Juan averaged 11 points per game as a Raptor last year. I think he was slowed late due to an injury....and that hurt his shooting. I feel that there is some value out there, he adds depth and brings three point shooting. He is in a tough spot now that Delfino is on board, at least last year Mo had no handles so he was a slight upgrade there when that was called for. Delfino is hands down more able to run a team the Dixon.
Like I said in an earlier post, Juan packaged with one of the expendable bigs may get us something of an upgrade. A young big to replace Rasho as the backup in 2 years would be nice......but what team would not want that.

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
If we could somehow shift Dixon for a guy who can play his back to the basket, I'd be happy...Someone like Gomes, Craig Smith, or Diogu would be great although Im not sure if the other teams would be willing partners...

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
Problem with Dixon is his size. I found his D to be pretty darn good, in terms of staying with his man and working hard. But he just doesn't have the length to challenge the shot which means guys get clean looks against him and have no fear about putting up the shot at any time.
On O he is stricly a jumpshooter. If that is not clicking he is pretty useless. Kind of like an Eddie House. And he is definitely not a primary ballhandler. Should never play ANY minutes at PG.
I am sure we could trade him for lots of guys who are number 8-12 on their teams depth chart. Especially if they have longer contracts and aren't big contributors to their team.

BC is building his assets. Dixon, Jose, Del, Kap, Rasho. A few of these guys will be moved in one deal.

Re: Juan Dixon's Trade Value?
I think you are all undervalueing Dixon's market value, based on the correct evaluation that he brings little value to Toronto.
As a small shooting guard, he really needs to be on a team that has a big PG who can cover the other teams 2.
He averaged 12.3ppg in 25 mpg in 2005-06, about 20th for all SGs, per Hoopstats. He shot 38% from the arc. Last year he slipped to 9.6ppg in 23.7mpg, and 35% form the arc. Clearly he brings little else to the table in terms of rebounding or passing, but his defence is solid enough. He is a useful scorer of the bench, who can get really hot, and can shoot jump-shots.
Is he going to bring us a big time shot blocker? No.
But he could bring us a bench player who maybe fits our roster needs better, like a veteran post who can rebound the ball and take a charge.

I dont think Kapono would be considered an asset. Hes here for the long haul, considering the money and length of contract that we threw at him this offseason. But all those guys would be enticing for other ball clubs around the league.
