gibson? i had to do a double-take there. i guess he is a sophomore, isn't he? just seems like he's been in the league for years. the guy almost declared straight out of high school... but then went to college. just been reading/hearing about him for so long, hard to believe he's only 21. for that age the guy's a relic.
anyway, i've really enjoyed the jamario moon ride (so far). it's been fun. he strikes me as a really good guy, too, sharp. if he wasn't so composed while on the floor, i'd be concerned about his minutes as the season progressed, but he is, so i'm not. in fact, i'm excited about his future starting not next year, not the following year, but this year. this guy has the chance to make our defense so much more exciting and dynamic than it would otherwise be. he can block anyone's shot, usually coming over from the weak side (especially important when you have bargnani on the block) and can seemingly stay with anyone off the dribble. a better test may come tomorrow vs lebron, but suffice it to say that i expect him to develop into our primary wing defender by the end of the year.
i mean, parker may be matched up with ray allen, kobe bryant, lebron jameson and tracy mcgrady as i type this, but i see it becoming jamario's role in the not-too-distant future.
can't remember the last time i was this excited about a rookie i'd never heard of.
peace

Re: Can Jamario Moon make the rookie allstar game?
weird>? haven't seen this thread but its old.
well after 9 games, yes i'm almost positive if he keeps getting the playing time he will make the rookie all-star game, hes avg like 8pts, 6rbs, 1ast, 1st, 1block a game, starting as a rookie vet; routinely making nba nightly hi-lights.
on top of that, he is arguebly IMO, the most consistant raptor so far this year.

I remember last year watching Matt Barnes come out of nowhere and contribute for the Warriors and I kept thinking why can't the Raptors find talent like that. All summer I've been saying the Raptors needed an athletic small forward, I never imagine he would be an ex-globetrotter.

Doesn't matter, I think there were years where they started 3 Guards or 3 Fs I think...
With Horford, Yi, and Durant, that will be tough to crack the starting line up. Durant can always play the 2, Hordford/Yi the 5.

With 15 points, 9 rebs 6 blocks and 3 steals, with Moon get the line of the week on the NBA rookie report?
I expect he should move to 4th or even 3rd on the rankings. Neck and neck with Sean Williams.
Who would have dreamt that we would have a player in the top 5 ROY voting this season? (Probably not even BC, but no-one is luckier than those who are the best.)

I don't want to jinx him but one thing Moon has over many rooks is his ability to produce consistently (so far) without any big let down days that many rooks have.
he's guaranteed himself the starting SF job and minutes, and he doesn't need plays run for him to be productive. I don't see why he can't be averaging around 10/6 with steals and blocks by the allstar break and maybe even challenge for a starting job on the rookie squad.
it will be tough as forwards like Yi, Green, Cook, Young, Durrant will all be fighting for that starting spot.

Re: Can Jamario Moon make the rookie allstar game?
on a side note.....I guess Bar-neeny will also make the sophmore team, not having a great year, but with such a weak draftclass he should be a lock
this could possibly be a win for the rookie squad this year, it would definetely be a change of pace if guys like Moon and S.Williams and Horford play.....we might actually see some defense

the real question is....
Does the Rookie All-Star team deserve Jamario Moon??

Re: Can Jamario Moon make the rookie allstar game?
it was a joke on my part, however if Jamario could throw up as many shots as KD, he would probably avg. around 18-20pts. what he lacks on the offensive numbers, his defensive stats blow KD out the water, tho it';s not fair to compare because durant is what? 19... and J>moon is 27.

Re: Can Jamario Moon make the rookie allstar game?
Durant has not been very efficient so far. I really don't want to see a guy, any guy win ROY win 20 ppg on 35% FG% and 28% 3pt%. Moon is doing the hard work on this team and nicely efficient on Offense. A much tougher achievement IMHO. (Durant has taken nearly 4 times the 3s) Not saying KD won't deserve it in the end, but the whole year has to be measured not just a couple stats.
