yeah, we can't beat Detroit and we can't beat the Celtics. In the West we have no chance against the Suns and Jazz always own us as well.
Good thing that Boston and Detroit will likely be 1st and 2nd seed in the East. We can compete against pretty much everyone else in the East so we at least have a chance to get past the 1st round.

Men playing against boys. That's what it looked like out there. Everything for the Raps is on the perimeter.
But there was a moment early in the 4th where Raps got it down to 7 I think and Sam could have got the starters back in. Anything can happen in a 7 minute stretch with hot shooting.
And why Bargs was not part of the garbage crew that came in for major minutes I don't know. Give him some PT to try and get something going.

My thought as well. Bargs was having a decent rebounding game, he had 5 boards in 16 minutes....this could have been a game that he got some confidence rebounding if he had played played more then 16 lousy minutes.

Re: Game Thread: Toronto Raptors (20-17) vs. Detroit Pistons - Jan 15th, 2008
at this point- especially without tj- the raptors have got to be among the worst teams in the league at finishing on the break. "phoenix north!" uhh... sure.
we don't get many opportunities, #1, but even when we do we seem to settle for mid-range jump shots. we are scared to go to the basket in the halfcourt set, no doubt, and it's become increasingly apparent that we're equally scared to go to the basket in the open floor.
we have 4v2 breaks, 3v2, 2v2, whatever, and we have literally no one who's willing to finish. perhaps we have no one who can. i simply don't understand. i mean, when it's an odd man rush- and even when it's not- we're supposed to be on the break, we're supposed to be in the driver's seat, the defense is supposed to be on its heels, so even when we go to the basket and get blocked or miss, our players should be the ones most prepared to grab the ball off the glass. it's often a can't miss opportunity. as a force of habit, though, we pull up for jump shots- nullifying whatever advantage we had in terms of numbers- and rely on the ball to go in.
i don't know if this is the problem itself or only a symptom of it, but it could be a bit of both i guess. we are uncomfortable on the break to the point that i would group us with the least threatening open floor teams in the league. right now, we may even be at the bottom of that list. we have to vanquish this fear we have- whatever it is. it's childish.
peace
