Re: Raps at Wiz....big game! Jan 29

That was a disgusting loss. The only reason the Raps were able to make a miracle run to force OT was horrible shot selection by the Wiz. They had that game won early in the fourth Q.

The Wiz lineup stands in sharp contrast to Toronto's. They draft long athletic bodies. I have always liked Blatche since his first summer league. You could see he had all the tools. Both he and Yi could be better than Bargs in the long run, which is hard to admit.

Haywood is always criticized but this guy eats up CB4 in the low post every time until Bosh eventually gets him in foul trouble. And Bosh was getting 'star' calls in my opinion as the Wiz bigs played him very well. Bosh made several big mistakes late in that game because the Wiz wore him down physically.

Raps offense showed none of the great ball movement we have seen recently. Too boring and predictable. If Kapono is playing he needs to get shots. Otherwise why bother having him out there. And when Delfino misses early he never gets his shot going. Isn't that why we have depth? so we can take out a cold shooter and insert another one.

No excuse for this horrible loss. I am extremely disappointed.

Re: Raps at Wiz....big game! Jan 29

yeah, you can almost see a lost coming the first few possessions of the game. The Raptors came out extremely flat and after guys brick a few shots, you kind of know what type of night it's going to be. Bosh had the chance in OT to carry the team in the W, but he either was tired or just didn't have it tonight. I remember back in that Portland game Bosh made up his mind about driving inside on every possession late in the game, he didn't do that tonight. I think this season it's the first time that Bosh started getting these superstar calls. He needs to utilize it to its full potential and not let teams off the hook with those outside jumpers, even though he shoots a better percentage than most big guys in the league.

Wiz are a tough team, physically and mentally.

Jamison's variety of hook/flip releases might be the best of any post player ever. that guy is so underrated.

killed by offensive rebounds.

Re: Raps at Wiz....big game! Jan 29

imo, this game showcased all of our weaknesses- mental, physical, skill, intangible... pretty much everything. i also muted my television for the first time in my life- in the first half, no less! i can only imagine what they were talking about as the raps collapsed. probably, "you can't stop andray blatche when he gets hot" or "dominic mcguire is a handful for anyone to control on the glass, so athletic" or "roger mason jr just has their number" or some other nonsense used for an excuse. painful all around. and yet we still had a chance to win. baffling.

it has to be impossible for this team to believe its excuses now. it has to be... doesn't it? i don't know. no matter, i think it's at least become impossible for bryan colangelo to sit idly by at the trade deadline. it's become pretty clear (imo) that the changes these guys need to make are not going to come internally. i've never really been a believer in making a trade for the sake of a trade, or firing the coach/GM for the sake of firing someone. you can make changes without change but you have to want to, and it doesn't appear they want to. this has gone on for long enough, imo. you can't tread water forever. at some point you have to learn to swim.

the raptors will win tonight and will probably use it as an excuse to forget about last night's game ("1 out of 2, could've been worse", "i think we all expected that these would be tough games", etc.). imo, they cannot afford to do that anymore. it's one thing to be optimistic, it's another to be in denial. denial prevents improvement. personally, i don't care what happens tonight. the game in washington should tell you all you need to know. it's not the first time we've seen it.

what do we need? for starters i would suggest a reckless personality. a jerk, if you will. a guy who stands up to bullies and doesn't shy away. doesn't have to be a rebounder. just has to get angry from time to time. an emotional roller coaster. a mike james type. at the very least he would keep things interesting. i can't get behind this team that easily- i think many fans feel the same way, as evidenced by the lacklustre home crowd participation this year- i'm looking for someone with an edge. i think the players we have now would "wake up" around said player, too- i think they want him; they just can't justify becoming him themselves- and he could change some things. the culture needs a shift.

because we often get 'bullied' around (remember lebron in toronto?). and there's never any response. in fact, the only response comes from our coach! people say that the trailblazers play and behave like nate mcmillan, for example. the raps and sam mitchell are polar opposites. might be a cause for concern.

peace
