Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
It's good for the Eastern Conference. A step up for the Heat is a step closer towards the 2 conferences being balanced.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
It's official, according to ESPNews.
I like this move for the Suns. In two years, they're going to have gobs of cap space and Shaq is what they need for now. If they can keep him healthy...

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
Actually, after thinking about this.
I kind of like it for Phoenix.
I mean, it is BALLSY, too the fullest degree. High risk, high reward to the fullest extent..
But I like the sound of a rejuvenated, motivated Shaq, with something around him he doesn't have in Miami- a great point guard, and great shooters.
Could pay off huge for Phoenix. Could not.
Either way I like it for Miami, even though Marion can opt out they rid themselves of that huge contract.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
Gives Phoenix a decent shot at a title vs LA. Should be an epic showdown between Shaq and Kobe.
There's never been a more comparable team to Kareem and Magic's showtime Lakers.
Nash
Barbosa/Bell
Hill/Diaw
Amare
Shaq
Shaq never played with a power forward anywhere close to Amare's level and Amare's never been paired with any kind of center.
Shaq's going to have a ton room to operate and is Phoenix is going to kill any team that doubles him.
I love it. This is so great for the league. Shaq's going to be fired up at the chance to solidify his legacy as MDE.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
if nothing else... this trade really looks good for my fantasy team, whom i have amare & diaw on.. the marion trade also means alot more minute for diaw, who played huge tonight.. both amare & diaw are REALLY going to take advantage of playing with shaquille, who i also had on my fantasy team before i dropped him last week.
Diaw is really going to step up now that shawn is gone.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
yup. diaw is good to go and so was marion, who is going to start trying again for the Heat.
good trade for both teams. Heat needed a piece for the future and are obviously interested in signing Marion, one of the best small forward ever, to pair with Wade.
and marcus banks is the likely start for miami going forward. he's better than J-will, count on it.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
Marcus Banks is a career backup. He's not a starter. If he starts for Miami, they're in deep, deep trouble. I don't know how happy Marion's gonna be playing second fiddle to Wade.
This is a good trade for the Suns. Shaq doesn't have the physical tools Marion has but he's got a 1000 times better attitude. And all he needs to do is rebound and make the right pass on the break. Nash will find him in the half court set, that's a given.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
Marcus Banks driving ability & man-defense >>>>>> Jason Williams anything.
i don't think either are starting PG's but next to wade.. i don't think Banks can hurt playing over JWill or Chris Quinn............
Marion is a b!** .. thats what he is, he is not better then wade, he is not better then nash or amare yet he gets paid like he is.. he does not deserve nething but a trade to the worst team in the NBA
i think Nash & Shaq are obviously too vet not too make it work.. Amare is really going to step up having Shaq patrolling the paint.

of course they're in deep, deep trouble. they didn't make this trade to make a run at the playoffs. banks is the best defender and probably best player that Riley has at point, unless he wants to start Wade there.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
I don't think Marcus Banks is a good fit in Miami. Wade need the ball all the time in order to be effective and get those tic tac fouls to get fts. That's why whoever plays alongside of him needs to have a very solid outside shot in order to take advantage of the attention Wade attracts when he drives. Chris Quinn actually is a decent fit because of his shot, but his defense and passing just sucks too much to be a starter. J-Will is decent but he's too streaky and is a defense liability now with his injuries. They need someone like a Steve Blake or Jordan Farmer who can shoot 3s at around 40% and still be able to perform some average point guard duties.

Re: Report: Heat, Suns talking Shaq-Marion trade
I like Jordan Farmar and Steve Blake a lot more than Marcus Banks. They're both quality PGs who can run a team. What the Heat should do is make a run at one of Memphis's PGs, preferably Conley.
I want to see Riley's face when Wade leaves when his contract is up, hehe.
