KG might miss allstar game due to injury
It's horrible news for the fans, but may turn out to be good news for the Raptors.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3239663
Bosh may be starting in KG's place and Calderon may end up on the team as an injury reserve.

Re: KG might miss allstar game due to injury
just read this on the general board.
my thoughts were that Calderon surely deserves to make it, i think winning teams players should be rewarded, but i also see a cat like Josh Smith making it.. anyways, if they are going to choose players off terrible teams maybe Smith should have been there over JJ.

Re: KG might miss allstar game due to injury
I definitely would have liked to see Smith make it over JJ. hopefully KG can play though.

Re: KG might miss allstar game due to injury
bah. Oh well, the Raptors didn't help themselves by losing all these cheap games. 4 games above .500 just isn't good enough to have 2 allstars.

imagine if the hawks got two all-stars
anyways, looks to be official
http://www.nba.com/allstar2008/news/..._20080210.html
not to mention pathetic.
your 2008 all-star averages 12 & 7.
i don't care, that should be on par with the hate jamaal magloire received... regardless of record.

apparently 1 game under is good enough if you're the wizards though...wonder how different the voting would have been since their 6 game losing streak.

Re: KG might miss allstar game due to injury
Bosh starting again = awesome
2003 represent. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. Maybe Kaman and Ford will be there next year. Melo should be starting next year and Darko...Darko's Darko. Darko will **** your mother and your daughter - he doesn't need the allstar game.
I'm OK with Sheed going, though he isn't much of a showtime player anymore. Calderon has more than enough bargaining power in free agency already, without making his first allstar game.

Ford in the all star game? I think Calderon just lost respect for you.

Re: KG might miss allstar game due to injury
i don't know if it's because the raptors are slept on or what, but calderon making the all-star game is a rumour that imo began and ended in toronto. it's either funny or disturbing.
i obviously don't care much about all-star nods. you could make a case for or against calderon and that's perfectly fine. i don't really have an opinion myself. but it's awfully convenient, to me, that the people most intent on having it appear like calderon is a shoo-in for this event are doug smith, chuck swirsky and raps tv. i often catch myself wondering if these guys report out of sheer bias (a want to believe) or objective truth (a real belief)- this would be exhibit A.
i don't know if i've even heard calderon going to new orleans mentioned by anyone outside of these few parties. and they (esp. smith and swirsky) were "so sure" of it (book it). kind of funny. but makes you wonder what else you're being fed that isn't terribly accurate. and why. very weird.
peace

Re: KG might miss allstar game due to injury
the american media on nba tv actually listed calderon as 1 of the top 5 all-star snubs for the east.
i think he was number #3
as someone else already said, an all-star appearance would clearly boost calderons negotiation ability this offseason.. HOWEVER
i really believe calderon likes it here, likes the team and would take less to stay here, he's just that kind of guy.. if there were on All-NBA team, for team players, Calderon would be the starting PG.

that's a valid point about Toronto bias (ie. Swirsky voting for Bargnani as ROY), but I have read quite a lot about Jose's potential inclusion as an all-star. Espn's Hollinger wrote at length about why Calderon deserved it, as did a few other Espn writers. Maybe Marc Stein? And he got honourable mention on yahoo's all-snub team, with the 2 guards picked ahead of him being in the West
http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?...yhoo&type=lgns
I also heard Rick Kamla going on about his 50,40,90 percentages...which truth be told are 53, 46 and 92.
If there was an injury to an eastern guard, I would be shocked if he wasn't chosen as the replacement...and I personally find it a bit shocking that joe johnson and his 41% shooting for a bad team beat jose out. | |
