Re: Pacers vs Raptors
it's over, the Raptors throw up another stinker at home. It's a dark day when guys like Mike Dunleevy, Troy Murphy, and Travis freaking Diener are breaking you down off the dribble and going inside for free and1s.

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
TJ is a good player, but he definitely shoots too much. Those fadeaways make me cringe.

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
frustrating game. I guess looking on the brightside though Andrea got some really good burn and showed some good things.

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
quickly, on the way out here:
i didn't mind the game as much as chuck and jack, for example. i don't think the raps "weren't bringing it" any worse than they haven't been bringing it the rest of the season. nothing new to report there, imo.
andrea bargnani will get kudos for his numbers, but with him too, it's just more of the same. there's nothing new to report with andrea. he shoots threes, sometimes he makes sometimes he misses, his instincts when he hears the whistle are not at a pro level (neither on offense nor defense), his transition defense may be the worst on the team, he's creative although he doesn't really know how to use it to his benefit yet, etc.
call me conspiracy theorist # 1, but i wouldn't be surprised if *gasp* bosh faked his injury tonight. the entire set for the first quarter seemed staged, i thought, even before he "went down". i could very well be wrong, but i think there's a chance i could very well be right. if so, i wouldn't be surprised if colangelo and gherardini were not only supportive of it, but orchestrating it themselves. whatever the reason would've been- to learn to play without him, to learn to play desperate, to learn to play with fire, to learn to play every night, to learn to be more active, whatever- i think it would've been worthwhile here. the pacers were playing half-dead, on the road without pretty much their entire team, mired in a losing skid versus a team that had already beaten them earlier in the week. in other words, this would've been the time to try it. but who knows... #1, they lost, so it didn't necessarily work... and #2, this sort of stuff does not go documented for years, so i won't know if i'm right until then- but i'll be called 'crazy' well before that.
either way, interesting game. and marquis daniels belongs on the knicks.
peace

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
i'd beg to differ on the bargnani report there.
1st half.. terrible
2nd half, all new bargnani, we haven't seen aggressiveness & attacking like that before.
it was good, he had to bring it, slow start as usual early, but he played hard out there.

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
We need to get a shooting coach for Bargnani. His shots weren't that flat before, now they are just line drives.

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
I like how Bargnani mixes his game up. He drives, shoots.. only thing missing is that post game. But yeah, Raps can't adjust without Bosh in the game. Oh well, hope the injury isn't that serious.
Marquise Daniels still look like a ****ing crackhead.

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
Andrea's shooting form is atrocious these days. The guy just hurls the ball at the rim like a dart. That worked with his set shot (last year) but it seems that whatever (necessary) alterations he's making combine with his muscle memory to create pure crap. Andrea has become a great shooter that sucks at shooting. I have no doubt he will make the correction, however slight, within the next two weeks and will start putting it in the hole from long distance but right now he may as well be Jamario shooting 3s. Chalk it up as an off night but Andrea has a lot of work to do on his shooting, from every distance. Il Mago could have had an easy 35 point tonight and I'm loving the overall development but the kid has to zone in his shooting. He needs to study shooting the arc of the ball rather than the rim because the brat has the flattest shot in the league. In the midrange, if he can lift his release point and his arc, he should be unstoppable. One step at a time though - this was an extremely important game for Andrea, despite the misses and the loss.
I ate my words on this loss. ****

Re: Pacers vs Raptors
don't know if i believe my own conspiracy theory anymore. bosh was apparently hurt in indiana so perhaps that explains the way it appeared (staged) last night. i guess they knew something i didn't.
i still want to take these three games on the road. two is important and three is not impossible.
