Can Bargnani be our bad***?
As Raps fans we're all to aware that our team is lacking that hard edge that could vault our team to the next level. We're characterized by jump shooting and a nice guy attitude and while this could yield limited playoff success, it's clearly not going to cut it in the long run.
We're left wondering where this x-factor is going to come from and many have turned to the idea of acquiring a star wing player as our only resort. While I'm hopeful that BC can take our team to another level with a trade in the next 12 level, Andrea's up and down season has rightfully caused us to forget his potential to be a stone-faced killer of a basketball player.
Il Mago is never going to be a tough guy like Oakley and he's probably never going to be a vocal leader but he can be a game changer at the center position that opponents hate with a passion. I've watched him turn the corner this season and I see the emergence of a player that can take us to the next level.
Andrea is not a nice guy. He's still a kid and the only joy I see from him comes from hitting dagger shots. His persona struggled with a new role but now that he's already come out the other side and has learned to contribute in other facets of the game, he's starting to gain the confidence of his teammates and again I can see the immense potential behind those intense, uncaring eyes.
I bring this up because he is entering a defining period in his young career and I expect him to step up without CB4 in the lineup. I can't wait to see how he responds.

Much like the Raps, Bargs needs to get stronger and tougher.

Re: Can Bargnani be our bad***?
I guess the issue is rather how badly we need Andrea to be this kind of player. We need him to be a killer if we're going to win anything significant. He's shown plenty of flashes, his defense is better than could really be expected, and he's even getting the hang of rebounding but he's
We all knew that our team's level of play was largely dependent on the big Italian's development. Going into the season, I didn't truly grasp just how difficult playing center for Sam was going to be for him. Sam is far from easy on him but Andrea hasn't made it easy for Sam either.
I still think he'll get there...this season. He's not as big a project as he often looks.
He just needs to start hitting his ****ing shots.

Re: Can Bargnani be our bad***?
We need to play him more then 18 minutes.....fouls or not....let him fouls out. it will help him learn how to play with fouls. He had 5 boards in 18 minutes last ight but we go small ball and have ****!ng Jamario Moon shooting 3's late in the game.....I am sick of tis small ball crap, we started the game well with Rash and Bargs and should haved stayed with our big guys and let them match us. Hump go to the line, Bargs rebounded, Rasho scored the ball.

EVERY player can show flashes...the diff between a good one and a crappy/mediocre one is consistency...which he does not have
Seriously don't know where all the optimism about him is coming from...he's a spot up shooter at best...best case scenario for him would be like Rashard Lewis at this point...but i dont even think that is likely

After he's done with basketball he will enter organized crime and become Don Bargnani.

Re: Can Bargnani be our bad***?
the one thing about andrea these days, at least from my point in view, is that he always looks like he's running on an island. maybe that's a good thing. or maybe not. the rest of our team is heavily reliant on the system to work; andrea, meanwhile, is sort of running his own system within our system.
when it comes to bosh bargnani, it's effective so rarely that when it is, you hear our favourite tv commentators come out of their seats, "you see! it works! who said they don't work well together!"
well, i think most people said that and continue to say that. it's gotta work more than once/month to have any value for the team.
what a struggle it's been with this guy. not all his fault by any means, but the whole thing has been a downer so far. i hope we/he can turn it around soon.
peace

Bargs, is as soft as they come. Kapono has more edge.

Bargnani is closer to Keith Van Horn than anyone else. I don't see much toughness either physical or mental from the guy.

If anyone on the Raps is a bad *** it would be Ford,Delfino,Calderon. Even then, its a stretch.

Re: Can Bargnani be our bad***?
3 mistake that BC made:
Sign Fred Jones (He already fixed: trade for Dixon then trade for Brezec)
Draft Bargnani
Hire Italian guy as assistant GM and support for Bragnani.
BC will fix these mistake off season: trade Bargnani.
I think if we keep waiting for Bargnani getting better then Bosh will getting Old and he will find other team to play for the ring.
Raptors need improve quick like Laker.
