i think we are a contender in the east with this lineup:

ford/calderon/***'t coach martin
parker/kapono
moon/delfino/garbajosa/graham
bosh/hump/baston
bargnani/nesterovic/brezec

but i see your point. can marion help us take the next step? i'll have to reserve judgment until the playoffs are over. i still don't know what we have.

marion can really help make up for defensive goofs on the perimeter, he rebounds like mad. and his offense is underrated. he also brings an in-game fierceness we could use.

on paper a guy like marion seems great for us--gives us that rebounding we're missing without jarring away our key pieces from their positions. he'd certainly help and it could actually be enough.

personally, i believe

we need more of a playmaker on the wing to further fuel our strengths rather than tie up weaknesses. i think that's a feature of garba's game we've missed a lot and has gone unmentioned. ak47 could help address both areas to some extent but i don't know if sam can use him correctly.

however, i wouldn't play diop ahead of bargnani, especially with the addition of stronger rebounding on the wing.

hm... maybe we're undervaluing moon? he's growing into a very solid rebounder himself. of course he's not a player of the caliber mentioned above but he also ears less than a million/year which leaves almost twenty million a year to play with that marion would take.

but the short answer: Yes.

I'd love someone like Diop is the middle, I'm on the fence about Marion and tend to learn more towards Artest.

Marion is a pretty good perimeter defender and he would become our best rebounder. I don't know how much money he's looking for though, his contract is up after next year if he doesn't opt out.
