We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

With the blazers going after Hedo, it has made Rudy upset:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4300407

He hasn't requested a trade YET. Rudy would look great in a Raptor uniform. He would have an awesome connection with Jose too. Thoughts ?

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

It makes sense but portland would probably want something in return. I don't really know what the raptors could give them. Plus I think fernandez might be a little over-rated.

Fernandez would really help out this team!

I don't care what Portland wants, give it to them! Fernandez is worth it, esp. since he's 24 years old.

I don't want them to start giving away picks. I was under the impression that fernandez is an average 2/3. His value is low right now. People just like him cause him and calderon would be spanish. (would be cool, but still) I say, screw portland and their greedy stockpiling draftpick ways.
2nd rounder and Nathan Jawai + Patrick O'bryant.

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

i would **** in my pants if we got fernandez... a bakcourt for jose and fernandez would be pretty fun to watch. derozan can play the 3.

i think fernandez has more to offer than what we saw last season. it's clear that nate mcmillain does not trust fernandez enough. blazers are making a terrible mistake by going after hedo. here's a guy who's almost as good as hedo on their own team, on a rookie contract mind you, and yet they're negotiating on bringing in a marginally better player for 10 times the price? dumb move by pritchard..

The blazers owner paul allen founded microsoft (along with bill gates). Even in this economic climate, he can afford it. They probably think roy/hedo is a good combo and makes them championship contenders.

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

I think you guys are overrating Rudy. Yeah, I was impressed at the olympics and he is very athletic. As much as the dunk on Howard was sick. I am not so sure he is a slasher. He seems to be more of a spot up shooter. I mean, he wasn't even the starting 3 at portland, he was behind a rookie Batum??? That must mean something. Anyway, I think Raps can def benefit from him. I am not sure he is the answer though but at this point Raps have a hole at the 2 and 3 so anything is better than nothing.

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

Rudy could turn into a very good starting 2 guard in the NBA, right now he shows flashes but need to pick it up on defense and in the consistency department....sounds like Delfino to me.

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

Just an idea, but maybe we could trade bosh for bayless, batum/outlaw, fernandez, +filler. It would solve their insane logjam at the 2/3 and we would get something for bosh. ( I don't think aldridge would be a possibility)

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

One thing I agree on in this thread is that Fernandez's value is relatively low. That means the Raptors don't have to consider moving Bosh in any trade (esp. since Aldridge is entrenched and since Aldridge and Bosh are similar they might be as interested as, say, Golden State. But I digress). Other posters are undervaluing him: he's an excellent shooter and defender in addition to world-class athlete. He would be a tremendous asset to this team, even with Delfino returning.

Fernandez's value doesn't match his salary, so Portland might be looking for someone they can dump right away. I suggest trading Joey Graham plus a future pick for Fernandez. A trade exception would have to be used, but I don't think Portland would care about that. They might even cut Graham right away. Who knows? All I know is that with Batum and Turkey Glue, Fernandez isn't needed and he'll be unhappy.

Re: We should trade for unhappy Rudy Ferndandez

i would really like fernandez here. i don't think i'm overrating him but you have to look at a player in terms of what he can do for you and get maximum return for the money you're paying him. fernandez has a much higher return/dollar ratio than hedo turkoglu if hedo signs that 60 million contract as is being reported. i think that price is just way too steep for hedo.
