Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
![]() Thanks to ®ated for the picture. Should be a great game. Dirk v Bargnani - both have started the season well. Vince v DeRozan - past v present if ever I seen it. Hopefully DeRozan controls more than just the 4th quarter of this game, because when he took control against the Pacers he looked fantastic. Looking forward to just seeing this team get back on the floor and play with the level of defense and hustle they have been. This season really is becoming a pleasure to watch, especially as next year is when the magic really happens.

Re: Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
Only caught the 1st quarter so far. I know you won't like this Seifer, but Bargnani really does seem to have improved (or at least bought into Casey's system).
DeRozan has shown flashes of excellence, that kid has got style, I'm looking forward to next year and having a plethora of talent. I like the way this team is competing. I even saw Jose doing some D. I had to double take, but he really did get a steal.

Re: Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
You guys battled for about 3 quarters of the game, then I quit paying attention, looked back up, and it was all but over.
Its not like you guys got blown out, but those type of losses where it seems like you just give up in the 4th are hard to swallow.

With the upcoming draft, I can stomach the losses, happy in the knowledge we'll be adding Superstar Val and one of the best class in history.

You guys need to draft a superstar, that's for sure.
Too bad the league will never let the Raps win the draft though.

Re: Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
I see about 4/5 superstar kids coming out of this draft. If we could add Barnes/Lamb/Kidd-Gilchrist next to DeMar I would be thrilled. Valanciunas is going to be a superstar in this league and he does everything that Bargnani can't. This team could very well be something special if we play the cards we have correctly.
Only sticking point is we could do with a new PG (although that said, Jose seems to have found himself). I would sell my soul to have Rubio become a Raptor. My entire soul.

Re: Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
I still say this is our best opportunity to trade Bargnani. Besides the fact that he's a liability rebounding and defensive wise, some of the top prospects in next year's draft are all power forwards. We already have Ed Davis, if we end up drafting someone like Andre Drummond, Jared Sullinger, Anthony Davis, Perry Jones, where are they going to play with Bargnani at 4 and Jonas at 5? It just makes too much sense to trade him now while his value is high (highest since his rookie year) and try to get a top 10 pick or even a pick in the 10-20 range in return.
These are some of the trades that I would make right now Bargnani to Houston for Jonny Flynn + salary fillers + 1st round pick (top 10 protected) Bargnani to Phoenix for Gortat and 1st Bargnani to Charlotte for Diaw + Augustin + lottery protected 1st I would do any of these trades in a flash. If Bargnani can maintain his play we would regret not trading him a year down the road when theres a major logjam in our frontcourt. |

Re: Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
Pheonix stinks and is almost blantantly trying to tank. Why are they going to trade their first for Bargnani?

Colangelo also has major connections to Phoenix. Remember how we traded Turkoglu for Barbosa's expiring contract? If I'm Colangelo and I'm trying to make a trade Phoenix would be the first team I call. |

Re: Game Thread - Raptors @ Mavericks
Right now Bargs is our most consistent offense performer until DD takes over that area we should hold onto Andrea hopefully no longer than the deadline.
