If we end up with the 8th pick then nobody is out next year. Amir and Ed Davis haven't proven themselves to be starters and neither has Jonas. If we have all 4 of them the minutes would look like this
Jonas 25~ min Bargnani 30-35 min Ed Davis 15-20 min Amir Johnson ~20 min James Johnson is mainly a small forward. |

Didn't watch much of the Raptors this year. Did Ed Davis show any progress?

nope. He blames it on not being able to work with the Raptors training staff this past offseason. He's still a defense and rebounding guy, not much offense at all.

I think Ed Davis still has value around the league. They need to find a team with a young core who's also desperate for a tough rebounder (like Washington, Milwaukee, New Orleans, or maybe post-Nash Phoenix) to make a trade for some wing depth or a young PG prospect. Why keep all those bigs? Alleviate the logjam before it happens and build depth. How about Davis for Jordan Crawford/Chris Singleton or Davis/Kleiza for Ariza/Minnesota's 1st or maybe even Davis/Forbes for Jared Dudley/Phoenix' Late Lottery pick?

Everyone knows bigs take longer to develop. Young bigs with size always have inflated value.

I'd take Ed over Amir but Ed has more value and a cheap contract unfortunately he may be the odd man out

Yea, but you can always get a young big with size with a lottery pick. Maybe you could get Crawford for him if you sweetened the deal a bit, but in dealing away Nick Young the Wizards look to have made a commitment to giving Crawford a go as the starting two-guard. You're not getting a good haul until Davis shows some development offensively, there's a power forward who can get you six and six in the second round every year.

Re: With the Raptors’ Frontcourt Suddenly Crowded, Who Will be the Odd Man Out?
Perhaps Amir could be the odd man out but he among the under contract forwards has the best size to start at C, we will need 1 back up either Mags returns or bring back Gray and you have a C rotation of Amir 25 Mags/Gray/Fa 10-15 Val 8-15.
In any deal if you are drafting a SF then you gotta dump Klieza, he is very inconsistent, travels to much, inconsistent at the FT line and if at the 3 too slow to play there.

Re: With the Raptors’ Frontcourt Suddenly Crowded, Who Will be the Odd Man Out?
Love Amir, but he has the most value right now. We have to try and package him for a versatile 2/3.
Ed needs more minutes and could be a great piece moving forward if given regular minutes. He has the potential to be a great bench/role player for the raps. I am not the biggest Bargs fan but this could be a great year for him. If Jonas can play big in the paint and take some of the pressure off Bargs for rebounding, Bargs will be able to spread the floor on offence. Then hopefully we bring in a pg that likes driving and creating which will make our offence way less stagnant and painfull to watch than it has been in the past. So right now I think Amir can get us the best return, but everyone should be up for grabs other than Jonas and Bargs |
