Free Ed Davis

What an absolute waste having him come off the bench. Davis and JV are the future of the Raptors front court. After watching Bargnani play PF for so many years I forgot what it was like to watch a real PF play. Now that AB is injured hopefully Davis will continue to start and show BC that Bargnani is at best a 6th man.

I am so enraged by the fact that BC refuses to place Bargnani in any trade, AB just can't be the main option for any team. It's time to move on and hopefully BC has the balls to admit that it's time to give up on his precious number 1 pick.

Re: Free Ed Davis

Ed Davis is a fringe starter at best. A game here and a game there where he looks decent doesn't change that.

And Bargnani isn't a franchise guy by any means, but now hes a 6th man at best? Come on. Ridiculous.

Re: Free Ed Davis

Can you imagine the kind of crap we're being offered for Bargnani? It's not like Colangelo is holding out for lottery picks. He's probably being offered 2nd rounders and bit players. I reckon he's the kind of player an already playoff-bound team would like to add as a complimentary scorer and teams like that don't have the assets we're hoping to get back. They want him for nothing.

If he's holding onto anyone it's Calderon. He's our trade bait this year. A four-win team doesn't need two starting point guards.

Happy to get a look at Ed Davis for a few weeks and see what he can contribute. Also happy to see what he might be like next to JoVa.

Re: Free Ed Davis

It really doens't matter what we can get for him at this point. And I agree Caldy is trade bait as well, thats why you package them for a wing. If I can find the article I will post it, but BC was quoted as saying that he wouldn't involve Bargs in a 3 way deal that was being rumoured between Toronto, Lakers and either of the Heat or Celtics? I think were the other teams.

That being said I would rather move Bargs before Caldy as that 10 mil expiring holds more value to me than Bargs. I am not looking for the Raps to pull off a deal that will make this better this year, but a deal that makes them better in the furture. If the Raps can keep up this rate of play (although the sched is a whole lot easier) and we finish poorly get lucky in the lotto and keep our pick (top 3 protected) the Raps will be far better off.

I know that, that was Ed's 1st game with heavy minutes and he won't average 20/12 a game. But with his skill set I feel that Raptors have a better front court with ED/JV than AB/JV. Anything we can get for Bargs at this point should be considered, considering what the other players said about him in the team meeting before the Utah game. They flat out called him lazy. He needs to go.

Yes 6th man at best. For a team that is in contention. Even for the Raps at this point, he doesn't play well with Lowry. He would bring better scoring off the bench and has better chemistry with Caldy

Bargs is a fine starter for a team with a true center like Dwight or Tyson Chandler or Duncan. Bargnani was never, ever a center, despite what the Raptors pretended when he was playing with Bosh.

Bargnani as the 6th man at best for a team in contention?

So in Miami he's the 6th best player? OKC? LA? New York? Memphis?

Come on. That's just asinine.

Not saying he is the 6th best player, I'm saying his skill set is better suited to come off the bench.

Bogg
Anyone would look good playing beside them. And I'm not calling out Bargs to be a true Center. This year he is playing PF and just looks brutal.

Did you guys watch the game last night? How much better did they look? They actually seemed to play with a little bit of energy and pride. Some of that might have to do with Lowry not being there and trying to do it all himself, but a lot probably had to do with these guys that actually want to prove themselves. Bargs looks like he has given up on Toronto.

There have been plenty of duds next to those guys. What I was saying is that if you have a guy to grab boards and protect the rim, Bargs scoring is a very valuable commodity. If you don't have that guy, it's tough because Bargnani doesn't rebound very well and doesn't make slashers think twice. He's a guy that needs to be matched with the right center, but if he is then he's a very valuable starter.

How many years are Raptors fans going to get enamored with "Lunch pail" "go to work" "hard nosed" players? The Raptors scrap out a few hard fought wins every year and fans fall in love with the same crappy guys, and chase away the actual skilled players.

On a championship contending team Bargnani is starting as the 2nd-3rd option (depending on the teams makeup). On the Raptors who aren't even close to contending? He starts over Ed Davis any day of the week. You put Davis in as a full time starter and you'd learn to hate him quite fast.

You should trade them Hansbrough and Plumlee for Bargs

Re: Free Ed Davis

I really don't get why Bargs is so valued around the league. If you talk to any hardcore Raptors fans, Bargs is NOT a fit for this team. Yes Bargs paired up with a good defensive C would be nice. But those are hard to come by, and the Raps won't be getting one with any of the pieces from this team.

Now teams that could actually use Bargnani, I feel would be willing to pay for him. Which is why the Raptors should be actively shopping him. He is a terrible fit for Toronto and would excel in the right offensive scheme, unfortunately Toronto is not the place for him, nor will it be any time soon. Like Bogg said Bargs would be good beside a Defensive C, and like I said those are tough to find and I doubt Toronto will be getting one soon. So Bargs is hurting the Raptors, and himself and this point because I really do feel like he has given up.

Talk to many hardcore Raptors fans before the season and Derozan wasn't very good. Talk to them around the time he signed his contract and it was a terrible overpayment. Talk to them during the Bosh years and he had to go, he stunk. Same story during the Carter years.

And every time there was a group of bench quality hard nosed players on the team that Raptors fans over valued.

Go ahead and run your most skilled player out of town again. Its the cycle TO seems to love.

Re: Free Ed Davis

The fact that people think Bargnani is our most skilled player is sad. And to bring up Carter, well that's a whole different story. Toronto fans LOVED Vince (I still do, he put TO on the map) but it was very clear when Vince decided to pack it in. Toronto Fans also Loved Bosh, we didn't run him out of town. Majority of Raptors fans wanted Bosh to re-sign in Toronto. Bargnani is even on the same level of any of these players. Yes we do like the grinders here in Toronto, but anyone who watches Toronto knows that Bargnani will never work here. Yes he could be a key piece on a contender with a rebounding shot blocking C but Toronto doesn't have that guy to pair him up with.

I mean he is averaging 16 points 4 rebounds as the focal point of our offense shooting 39%, thats awful
