Re: 2006/07 Champions League Knockout Round 1: Leg 1/2

Mancini's goal for Roma was absolutely disgusting.........

I posted it in the youtube thread, I'd recommend checking it out.

Re: 2006/07 Champions League Knockout Round 1: Leg 1/2

Soccer brawls are nice in a way that players try to catch running players with their feet.

Inter used to be my favorite Seria A team, can't say I like them much nowadays. Mancini's goal was nice, but I'd rather wanted Lyon advancing. Ballack played very poor, but his goal saved him from bad press, nice assist by Sheva with the header. They were lucky Porto's goalie fumbled that Robben shot though.

If an english team is going to win it I hope it's Arsenal (very unlikely), but I wouldn't mind Chelsea. Everything but Liverpool and ManU would be fine, I'd even prefer Real over those two.

How can you like Chelski? Isn't that against the law in Germany since they stole Ballack?

Since that game was the only one I could see today, I must say that Porto's keeper just played himself out of a job. Not that his defense was much help, though.

Chelsea still has some sympathy left from the Gullit-Vialli-Zola era, so I tend to cut them some slack . While I'm not happy with their money throwing, at least they were rather good at it before this season. Plus, I don't blame Ballack, although in retrospect he should have gone to Barca. Hard to rip a player, when he was constantly put down by the local press and certain parts of the management.

Can't wait for tonight, Bayern has overcome their recent slump a bit and have recaptured their competitive spirit under Hitzfeld. Since both teams' defenses are horrible, it should make for a good game.

Bayern-Real 3:1
Arsenal-PSV 2:0
Milan-Celtic 1:0
ManU-Lille 2:1

Re: 2006/07 Champions League Knockout Round 1: Leg 1/2

Intense game in Munich, both teams are playing hard but not pretty. The crowd is really into it, too.

Perfect start for Bayern, Makaay scored after 11 seconds. Capello's formation was a joke, did he really expect to achieve a 0:0? To his benefit he subbed in Guti after 30 mins, after that Bayern was lucky to get away with the lead at the end of the 1st half. They should have been up 3:0 already but Casillas saved in two 1-1 situations.

Podolski seems not to be up to the pressure, he should have pulled through and used his weaker right on the 1-1 and made a very bad pass to Makaay into offside when he could have taken advantage of a being two attackers against one defender.

Ah good day

Manchester United advances

Glad to see United move on. Great end to Larsson's loan spell. Too bad he's not staying.
