Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
I'm not keen on facing Roma again. How many people have to get stabbed before they stop putting these two teams together? I just hope that we can play both games without any of our fans getting hurt this time, either by the Italian "police" or the Ultras...not altogether sure who is worse!

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Group A
FC Liverpool
FC Porto
Besiktas Istanbul
Olympique Marseille
Group B
FC Chelsea
FC Valencia
FC Schalke 04
Rosenborg Trondheim
Group C
Real Madrid
Werder Bremen
Lazio Rom
Olympiakos Piräus
Group D
AC Milan
Benfica
Shaktar
Celtic Glasgow
Group E
FC Barcelona
Olympique Lyon

AS Roma
Dynamo Kiev
Sporting Lisbon
Group G
Inter Milan
Fenerbahce
PSV Eindhoven
ZSAK Moskau
Group H
FC Arsenal
FC Sevilla
Steaua Bukarest
Slavia Prag
There are my predictions. Nothing really groundbreaking. I like the groups that both Besiktas and Fenerbahce have been drawn in.
Besiktas is looking very good this year so I wouldn't be surprised if they pull off a couple of upsets. They have a new coach, new system, and some new players.
Fenerbahce on the other hand have a more defensive approach this season and that might be good for them in the CL since their defense is what usually lets them down. Roberto Carlos may be a shadow of his former self, but he's been here before, and he's won it all, so the experience he brings will be invaluable.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
predictions:
Tuesday, 18 September 2007
FC Porto - Liverpool 0:0
Marseille - Besiktas 2:1
Chelsea - Rosenborg 3:0
Schalke 04 - Valencia 0:0
Olympiacos - Lazio 3:2
Real Madrid - Werder Bremen 3:1
AC Milan - Benfica 1:0
Shakhtar Donetsk - Celtic 2:1
Wednesday, 19 September 2007
Barcelona - Lyon 2:2
Rangers - VfB Stuttgart 0:1
Sporting - Man Utd 1:3
Roma - Dynamo Kiev 2:0
Fenerbahce - Inter Milan 0:0
PSV - CSKA Moscow 2:1
Slavia Prague - Steaua Bucuresti 0:2
Arsenal - Sevilla 2:1
Couple of good games tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing Madrid - Bremen, although I think Bremen is lucky if they don't get a beating. But they'd probably have lost either way so it's not so bad that they have to play Real with most of their midfield still injured. Porto - Liverpool and Schalke - Valencia should be interesting, too.

I don't really see anything that surprising happening in group play. Werder become UEFA Cup favorites, while Sevilla won't actually be there.
I'm getting ready for the matches today!

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
My Lazio is finally back in Europe. They don't have a strong team, so 1:1 against Olympiakos was a good start for them. By the way, the 43-year-old Lazio's veteran goalkeeper Marco Ballotta, has just surpassed Costacurta as the oldest man to play in the Champions League and has no plans to call time on his career just yet (!).

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
just another day at the office for cesc - scored the (lampardesque) winning goal and gave the pass for the goal of the day. additionally arsenal's third goal was a result of his free kick (sagna flicked the cross to van persie)..
