Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
inter are losers. the only reason they win in italy is the calciopoli scandal, which was just a bit questionable. like inter was the only team that didn't do anything against the rules..

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Inter were getting outplayed even before Materazzi was sent off, as expected Liverpool came out guns blazing and Inter could not match them. Torres pace was too much for that cheat Materazzi and that cheat thought he could get away with it like he does in Serie A. Liverpool pressed and pressed and eventually broke down Inter's D which was playing very good btw. You could see Liverpool do lack any real sort of creativity from midfield, however I thought Mascherano was immense today, he is slowly on his way to becoming the best DM in the world. Gerrard, although not as technically gifted as some other players, pulls these moments of brilliance that few in the world can match and that is why he is always up on the lists. Match is far from over though, but I get a deja vu feeling from 2005 where Liverpool are gonna defend like madmens and not concede a goal.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
FT.
Lyon 1 - 1 Manchester United
Celtic 2 - 3 Barcelona
Arsenal 0 - 0 AC Milan
Fenerbahce 3 - 2 Sevilla
Karim Benzema, wow what a talent, he was giving Ferdinand and Vidic fits all game and his goal was brilliant. I'm happy with a 1-1 draw, and confident of progressing. I hope SAF realizes he has to start Rooney and Tevez together and no more Rooney by himself. Giggs is slowly...slowly declining, I think Nani should get the nodd ahead of him now.
Disappointed at the Celtic scoreline, it's almost an impossible task to win at Camp Nou now but Celtic know that Barcelona are quite vulnerable in the air.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Arsenal has to be disappointed with the scoreless draw, they played all over Milan. Was an excellent game to watch, just missed that finishing touch and credit to Milan for that. The commentators were all doom and gloom for Arsenal but I think they are in with a shot.
Flamini was excellent in shutting down Kaka and the whole back four were great, even Senderos.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Will be happy with the result against Lyon. We really see already the Hargreaves purchase paying dividends. I thought Hargreaves played well today, in a formation that was basically set up to get the result we got. We played Anderson as an attacking midfielder as well with mixed results. I think Nani has passed Giggs up though. That's a lad that is on top of the world right now. He's irrepressable.
And Benzema. What a talent. I like Ben Arfa too. But Ben Arfa needs to grow up a lot like Ronaldo did. I think Sir Alex would turn him into a tremendous player, but I also see no reason to go after Ben Arfa when we already have Nani. And frankly there's no reason to go after Benzema either, because with Manucho coming in the summer, and still having Saha--I don't know how many games he'd really get for us. Plus we're trying to develop Wellbeck and Frazier Campbell. Benzema is a tremendous player, but I think he'll end up either with Real Madrid or in Italy. I doubt he'll end up at Chelsea at this point in his career. But who knows. Chelsea did get Essien.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Finally, been waiting two weeks for the second leg. so today we have
Milan vs. Arsenal
Manchester United vs. Lyon
Sevilla vs. Fenerbahce
Barcelona vs. Celtic
I know Milan has never lost to English opposition but I think Arsenal could very well take this tie. Celtic have pretty much an impossible task at the Nou Camp but you never know what can happen...
The Sevilla-Fenerbahce match should be interesting, hard to say who will go through at this point.
I'm pretty confident United will go through against Lyon, our home form is far too good and away we are pretty crap. I'm hoping that Rooney doesn't play the lone role again, him and Tevez if they play will wreak havoc on that Lyon backline.

I hope that Arsenal gets a draw or win, but knowing Milan they will likely come through once again. ManU and Sevilla should also move on, Barca is a no-brainer.
