Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
What a great matchup it will be, Liverpool vs. Chelsea - soccer at its best
Liverpool will be back in the final once again, Benitez will easily outcoach Grant.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Another wrong penalty decision and Liverpool are through.. Ever since that Birmingham game Arsenal's luck has completely turned around from early on in the season. Although it must be said the defence has been absolute rubbish lately.. Why persist with Senderos? Why put Toure out of position at right back? He got killed by Gerrard for the goal in the first match and gave away the penalty in this one.
Ugh it's just sad for the team because they've had a good season and played some excellent football but are going to get nothing out of it.
Wenger needs to spend and sell (Eboue, Senderos) this summer to get some depth in the squad.

Senderos is just a terrible and overrated player, he is too slow to play on this level. I have no idea why this guy still plays for a great team like Arsenal.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Bring on Barca, United can take anyone.
SAF must've been quite confident, leaving out Rooney and Ronaldo with the Arsenal game on sunday in mind. Still Roma always plays into the hand of United, their style only benefits United who controlled the game early on and should've sealed it. Hargreaves is a funny player, I'm not sure where his future position in United is, he can certainly get down the wings and put in absolutely quality balls. Tevez with a great header, funny how he can miss the most absolute sitters with his head but score ones like that. Rio and Pique were immense, Pique does not look out of depth at all and the kid should be the 3rd CB behind Rio and Vidic. Even Silvestre was solid tonight and I'm happy to see Gary Neville back after being out for almost a year.
Bring on Barca

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Liverpool - Arsenal was the best game I've seen this season, and Theo Walcott set up the best goal I've seen to mean absolutely nothing possibly ever.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Funny thing about form is that it can inexplicably go from good to bad in a matter of one game. ManUtd have not played well in the their last 3 games.
Today is the first leg of the Semifinal between Liverpool and Chelsea
Historically Liverpool have gotten the best of Chelsea in this fixture, and I can't see Grant out tactic Benitez on this one, each team knows each other far too well. First leg is at Anfield, Benitez will probably play defensively here, not that he ever plays attacking football anyways.
Essien is suspended for the first leg, huge loss for Chelsea. Hard to say what the lineup for Chelsea will be since Grant is the manager, he will probably idiotically play a 4-3-3 and put Anelka as a winger. Lampard and Gerrard are both expected to be fit for this one as well.
It'll be interesting to see how Liverpool line up, maybe a 4-5-1 with Gerrard playing just behind Torres with Alonso and Mascherano in the middle. Probably Kuyt out on the right since Benitez is in love with him and Babel out on the left.
All in all it will probably be a pretty defensive tight game, I'm predicting a 1-1 draw here.

Good call on the 1-1 draw, though I don't think anybody expected it to happen the way it did.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
That was more of an EPL match then a European game. Neither team played well, Chelsea simply bypassed their midfield and hoofed the ball to Drogba almost every time. Liverpool were unlucky to concede but also quite lucky to score, Riise is an idiot by the way, 99& of defenders would simply clear that with their foot and not their head, guess he didn't trust his right foot.

As a neutral fan, you have got to laugh at that own goal, just heading it into his net. I didn't think there was going to be a winner in this one, and now Chelsea have got to be favorites with that away goal.
