Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Nice goal by Drogba to get Chelsea on the board. 1-0 Chelsea right now in the 38th minute.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Well, that Babel goal certainly suprised me.
Anyway, good game, Chelsea get the win, and it's a United/Chelsea final. I hope one of the two (preferably United) get the double, it would be a shame for say Chelsea to win Premiership then United Champions League, because then I don't see how you class United Champions of Europe if they can't win their own league.

nobody forced zambrotta to pass the ball in the middle like that. it was disgusting. that's like saying riise's own goal was "forced error" and thus in no way lucky for chelsea.
and scholes' shot was not "clean". I don't believe for a second he tried to put it in that top corner with "swing" like that.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
You don't think Scholes intended for the ball to swing like that into the corner? We're talking about Paul Scholes here, not Fabregas. Scholes is the best shooter on United's team. I'd buy the ball went whereever he willed it to go. It was a beautiful shot, and anyone bemoaning probably hates United anyways(which is true in your case).
The final is basically going to be a Chelsea homegame.

Wow. That's just retarded. Scholes didn't intend to hit the ball into the top corner? Watch again.

This is one of the best hitters of the ball from that range we are talking about, watch how clean he hits it, that's just a quality strike.

Ronaldo was right behind Zambrotta and he was clearly pressured....that's a forced turnover
Scholes hits it with his laces closer to the outside of his boot, that is definitely curling away from the keeper.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
yes, but nobody forced zambrotta to pass the ball in the middle, which is just a moronic thing to do. he could have passed the ball to puyol or valdes or just kicked it to the stands. he had 4 choices and he chose the worst one. you just don't do that unless you are 110% sure you succeed.
there was pressure on riise, but no one says les bleues weren't lucky.
.. I admit scholes is pretty good in shooting the ball, but usually players don't put that kind of curl on the ball when they shoot to the "opposite" top corner, because there is the risk it'll curl all the way out. that's what I thought when seeing it. could be I'm wrong.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2007/8
Did you not see Gerrard talking about this in the Adidas commercial with them island boys?
His personal strategy is usually to just aim the volley towards the keeper as hard as he can because is usually curls to the top corner if you hit it hard enough. I think it's common knowledge for pros so I don't think it was a lucky strike.
Perhaps you're still bitter about Arsenal's "beautiful" goals not counting double?

well, isn't it then lucky that the ball curls to top corner, if the shooter aims in the centre?
close your eyes, kick as hard as you can and hope it curls away from the keeper?
