Will the Jazz match Williams' offer?
Last year's third-string point guard has an offer from Milwaukee for three years, $5.5 million
Quote:
O'Connor does not begrudge Williams' decision to test the market.
"Looking around for more money and more opportunity, I can understand and appreciate that," he said.
So, will the Jazz match Milwaukee's offer?
Or does O'Connor figure that spending an average of $1.83 million over the next three seasons on Williams is too much, given the Jazz's recent four-year, $16 million commitment to Arroyo and Lopez' season-long health last year?
"I don't really have a feel for it yet," O'Connor said. "I can't say, 'If this is the number, we'll do this.' I can't say, 'If this is the number, we won't do that.' . . . We'll just have to see what happens."

I don;t know. It's a lot more money than KOC thought he'd have to pay. It's also a lot for a 3rd stringer. If Arroyo and Lopez are good enough for the next 4 years, do we need to pay 15mill for MoWill too?
Sadly, i think the answer is no.

I can almost guarantee in three years we will look back on not matching him with disgust, because he's going to be an absolute stud.. I really am hoping we match him, but I highly doubt it.

Very much so. A TJ Ford-Mo Williams combo will be very good to watch in the next couple of years. Watch Mike James get traded again, at the trading deadline.
Mo Williams has a lot of Bobby Jackson in his game.

What I don't understand is, if they weren't going to match Mo Williams's offer sheet, then why did they protect him in the expansion draft? It seems like they threw away Sasha Pavlovic for nothing.
I don't think this is too much to pay for your third-string point guard when one of your top two is as injury-prone as Raul Lopez. If they let Williams go and Lopez gets hurt, their backup PG is going to have to be someone like Rod Strickland.
