You're the Jazz GM...
Carlos Boozer was out for most of the season, you just finished with under 30 wins and got the 4th pick in the NBA draft. The Lakers come to you before the draft and offer a straight up swap of Lamar Odom for Carlos Boozer...would you do it? Why or why not?
Furthermore, who do you take with the lottery pick? Assume that Andrew Bogut, Marvin Williams and Chris Paul have been taken by Atlanta, Charlotte and New Orleans. What does your lineup look like next season?

Re: You're the Jazz GM...
I would've pulled the trigger on an Odom for Boozer deal, but that's just me; I would prefer Odom over Boozer.
If 4th in the draft, I would take Deron Williams over Martynas, as Okur is a quality C, and PG is a glaring need. Next season:
Deron/Lopez/McLeod
Giricek/Snyder
AK/Harpring
Odom/Humphries
Okur/Collins/Borchardt
No real go-to guy, but Detroit doesn't really have one either, and they one a championship. I actually think Odom and AK would be a nice forward combo; both interchangeable at 3 and 4. Regardless, I think that this can be a playoff team next year in the west.

Re: You're the Jazz GM...
This is stupid, what makes you think that the Jazz would want Odom to play him out of position when that's part of the problem in LA? As for the pick, I think they'd go for Felton, Splitter, or Andriuskevicious.

Because they have AK47 as well, so their lineup would still be big. They wouldn't lose too much on defense because Boozer isn't a great defender and Odom pulls down 10rpg.

Re: You're the Jazz GM...
I'm for either trading down and still getting Felton, or trading up with our spare draft picks. I doubt that we stay at 4-5-6 if we happen to be there.

Re: You're the Jazz GM...
I believe Odom is a better player then Boozer but I don't believe he would help the Jazz at all. Boozer is a better PF then Odom since Odom is really a SF. A good PG or SG would be a huge lift for the Jazz in the draft.

Re: You're the Jazz GM...
Granted, this season has been ugly. But the jazz have learned a lot. Taking Odom for Boozer is premature. if the jazz were the lakers or most of the teams in the league that adopt the Phil Jackson theory of "two superstars and a ton of role players," then yes you do that deal. But right now that is not what the jazz are trying to do. I think that Boozer fits what the jazz want to do. Okur was a great pickup. The jazz need a point guard more than anything else. In my opinion Deron fits what they need. Use the second first round pick on Francisco Garcia, Rudy Fernandez or a shooting guard to be left over seas. Keep your roster as is except for Giricek he is expendable. Do not let Sloan go and get ready for next season. If O'Connor goes and re-tools the roster than the process will start over again.

Re: You're the Jazz GM...
It will be very hard to retool the roster at this point. Not a whole lot of cap money to work with right now. Odom doesn't fit Phil's game plan because he isn't a true superstar. Utah could use a top 3 pick to go after a flashy PG to open up the game a little bit.
