Snyder with a nice driving dunk past Hoiberg and Griffin. and 1
8-0 run
Humphries with the steal and the reverse slam!
10-0 run.
111-86. Score not indicative of the lashing the Jazz took.

Minnesota 111, Utah 86
Quote:
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Wally Szczerbiak scored 20 points to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the slumping Utah Jazz 111-86 Wednesday night.
Kevin Garnett had 18 points, 16 rebounds and six assists for Minnesota, which played an almost perfect game and won for the seventh time in eight tries. But with the regular-season schedule quickly shrinking, the Timberwolves failed to make any progress toward the Western Conference playoffs.
Seventh-place Denver (43-31) and eighth-place Memphis (42-32) also won, leaving Minnesota (40-35) still 2 1/2 games out of the last spot. The Wolves, who dropped the season series to the Grizzlies and would lose a tiebreaker with them, host the Nuggets on Friday.
Matt Harpring and Gordan Giricek each scored 14 points for the lottery-bound Jazz (23-51), who trailed by as many as 39 points and were beaten 47-29 on rebounds.
With three of his top five scorers -- Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko and Raja Bell -- hurt, coach Jerry Sloan gave veteran point guard Howard Eisley his first start of the season and introduced Utah's 29th different starting lineup. That's the most in the NBA this season.
Sloan didn't get to stick around long to watch. He picked up two technical fouls in the first quarter for griping to referee Ken Mauer, earning his first automatic ejection this season.
One minute after Sloan was tossed, the Timberwolves completed a 19-0 run on a sharp fast-break pass by Troy Hudson to a streaking Garnett for a layup that gave them a 25-4 lead barely eight minutes into the game. Minnesota gave up eight points in the first period, the fewest allowed in the opening frame in franchise history. It was also Utah's lowest-scoring quarter of the season.
The Jazz lost their eighth straight on the road, dropping to 7-28 away from home.
A frustrated Jarron Collins got a charging foul late in the third for burying his head in Garnett's chest and drew a technical a few seconds later for complaining about it, which made Garnett clap and smile. Then, while Latrell Sprewell lined up to shoot a free throw, Eisley got a technical, too, for chirping.
After playing well below expectations for much of the season, leading to the firing of coach Flip Saunders, the Timberwolves have finally found their stride -- raising their record to 15-9 since Kevin McHale took over for Saunders.

Re: Game Thread : Jazz @ T'wolves 7:30 PM, Wednesday, April 6 TV: KJZZ/ESPN
Game Notes :Bell is not with the team on this road trip because of a bruised shin and tendinitis in his foot. Kirilenko (broken wrist) and Boozer (strained foot) are on the injured list. Also, Keith McLeod didn't dress for Utah because of a sprained wrist. ... Minnesota interim coach Kevin McHale raved before the game about Sloan, despite the Jazz's struggles this season. ``Jerry's one of my favorite people,'' McHale said. ``His teams play hard. That's what I like.'' The two spoke briefly before tipoff, but McHale said he didn't ask Sloan about his plans for the future. Sloan, 63, is finishing his 17th year as Utah's coach. His streak of 16 straight winning seasons is ending.

Thus the reason the Jazz haven't been on national TV.

Sorry to post a little late, but after watching that dubious first quarter, I have a nomination for broadcaster's line of the year...It was the first quarter, Minnesota up 25-4.
Musburger: "After the Jazz scored the first basket, the Timberwolves have been on an incredible 25-2 run."
Tolbert: "What, like a 25-4 run isn't impressive enough...?"

Sloan ejected as Jazz get rejected
Quote:
ESPN force-fed the nation Wednesday night's Jazz-Minnesota Timberwolves game.
Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, however, could not bear to watch — at least not in living color, with a courtside seat.
Jerry Sloan left the game early.
So as the Timberwolves jumped on the Jazz early and rolled to a 111-86 win at the Target Center, Sloan waited in the locker room, ejected after picking up the second of two opening-quarter technical fouls.
"It was one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had in a long time," he said.
Or maybe not.
Jazz co-captain Matt Harpring wasn't sure at whom Sloan was more disgusted: referees or his own team.
"I don't know," Harpring said. "He should have been mad at us."
That is because Minnesota led 31-8 after just 12 minutes, marking Utah's lowest-scoring quarter of the season — nine in the second at Cleveland last month was the previous low — and the fewest points in an opening period by a Wolves' opponent in Minnesota franchise history.
By the end of Wednesday's third quarter, the Timberwolves led 91-56 — and Utah was well on its way to yet another embarrassing defeat in a season of many.
No wonder Sloan exited early.
"We just didn't play as a team," Harpring said, "and when you start not passing the ball, it's almost contagious, in a bad way. . . . That's been our problem all year: We try to do it ourselves, and not get everyone involved, and that's what happens.
"That's probably the worst start we've had in a long time," Harpring added, "but it probably goes along with the kind of basketball we've been playing."
