Layden has even said he was sorry for trading you in the summer of '86 when Karl Malone arrived. But with Miller, where's the forgiveness?

AD: Well, that's what it was about -- the holdout. Malone held out about five or six times. So, what's up with that?

SI.com: Perhaps what Elton John once wrote of himself is true of the Jazz owner: Sorry seems to be the hardest word.

AD: Yeah, well, maybe one day.

It's a shame he didn't make the hall.

The Hall asks nominees not to reveal their fate until the inductees are officially announced.

Dantley said he was not overly disappointed, but conceded the thought of possible enshrinement had been on his mind the past few weeks.

"During the week you think about it because people always come up to you saying something about it," he said. "But it's hard for that committee - whoever that committee is - to make a vote."

Dantley said he was especially happy for three friends who were elected - longtime NBA coach Hubie Brown, University of Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun and Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim - and said he would call to congratulate them.

Dantley's son, Cameron, will play football at Syracuse next season. "Hopefully my son can be on (Boeheim's) basketball team," Dantley said.
