Deron Williams All Rookie 1st Team
All Rookie Team
Quote:
Chris Paul of the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets headlines a talented group of rookies named to the T-Mobile NBA All-Rookie Team, the NBA announced today.
Paul, the only unanimous First Team selection, is joined by Toronto’s Charlie Villanueva (56 points), Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut (55 points), Utah’s Deron Williams (46 points) and New York’s Channing Frye (45 points).
Paul became the fifth rookie to win the T-Mobile Rookie of the Month award for every month of his rookie season, joining Cleveland’s LeBron James, Denver’s Carmelo Anthony and San Antonio's Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Paul, who led all rookies with 21 double-doubles, averaged rookie highs of 16.1 points and 7.8 assists while also recording 5.1 rebounds and 2.24 steals.
Villanueva topped the Eastern Conference rookies in scoring, averaging 13.0 points on .463 shooting and added 6.4 rpg. Bogut, the number one pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, led all rookies in rebounding (7.0 rpg) and blocks (.83 bpg) and tallied 9.4 ppg on .533 shooting. Williams averaged 10.8 points and ranked third among rookies in assists with 4.5 per game. Frye led all rookie centers in scoring with 12.3 ppg on .477 shooting and added 5.8 rpg.
The T-Mobile NBA All-Rookie Second Team consists of Indiana’s Danny Granger (43 points), Charlotte’s Raymond Felton (40 points), Houston’s Luther Head (28 points), Atlanta’s Marvin Williams (15 points) and Boston’s Ryan Gomes (14 points).
The voting panel consisted of the NBA’s 30 head coaches, who were asked to select five players for the first team and five players for the second team, regardless of position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players on their own team. Two points were awarded for first team votes and one for second team votes.

Andrei Kirilenko was first-team All Rookie a few years ago. Before him, last Jazzman to make the team was Karl Malone. Nice company for Deron

Re: Deron Williams All Rookie 1st Team
Unfourtanately, this is a chance for Deron to be in All Rookie 1st TEam. I mean quality of 2005 draft is not comparable to 2004 and 2003, with these stats Deron would not be in 2nd as weel. However, it is a honour to be in. Congrats to him.

Re: Deron Williams All Rookie 1st Team
If he was playing like he did the 2nd half of the season in the 1st, it would of been a lock in the years before. He got lucky no other rookie played a good FULL season before him. He will be on the sophmore team in the rookie vs soph team in all star break next season.

Yeah, that'll be a nice sophomore team next year...but if the next crop of rookies turns out as good as they look like they're going to be, they'll slaughter the sophomores.

Shouldn't be by much. They got Paul, deron, felton as their backcourt... with frye, bogut, Cvill as the frontcourt. And who knows who will have a break out season in thier second season.

Re: Deron Williams All Rookie 1st Team
Playing point under Sloan, after Stockton, is perhaps the toughest position in basketball to perform up to demands. A bunch of players tried and couldn't cut it. For Deron to do as well as he has speaks volumes about him that may not ever show up on a stat sheet. It was nice to see him on the All Rookie Team.

O I know they wont. Deron fits the system perfectly and I can see his future being in Utah getting better and better raising his family in Utah playing the game he loves under one of the best coaches in the nba, with the promising future this young talented team has.

That's true. Remember guys like Rusty LaRue and John Crotty? (Anybody know what happened to them?) How about that snot Arroyo? Drives me nuts he might end up with a Ring in Detroit--that'd be the only reason I'd root for San Antonio in the Finals if the Pistons represent the East: Just because I don't want to see that brat win a Championship.
How about Eternally Hopeless Eisley? He's in Denver now, isn't he? Funny stuff.
I'm trying to think of somebody who effectively backed up Stockton or has done well with the one spot since he left, and I can't think of anybody but Deron Williams. Anybody else?

1. Arroyo is on the Orlando Magic...
2. He is fishing right now in Flordia.
3. Nope, I cant think of anyone else. Deron is the future of the PG spot for the jazz. Wont be as good as stockton, but still will be a hell of a player.

Oh,. that's right! I forgot!! Good!!! Then I can go back to hoping like mad the Spurs lose. 'Course I hate the Pistons too, so the Finals are probably going to irritate me no matter how they go.

If the spurs and pistons make it to the finals, then they deserved it. THe pistons have to play the cavs, possibly the nets or heat to get to the finals. The spurs have to play the mavs, and possibly the clippers or suns. It wont be an easy trip to the finals for either team.

Yeah, sure, I know--and I still despise both those teams.
