Chris Paul NEAR-unanimous ROY
As well as Paul played all season long, he failed to collect one number one vote for Rookie of the Year. It went to.... DERON WILLIAMS!?! Somewhat unexpected, despite Williams' better than average play, especially late in the season. Just a homer pick, or did the voter see something most missed in Deron?

Re: Chris Paul NEAR-unanimous ROY
lol, paul still got 124 out of 125 first place votes. Who knows if it was a homer pick, or someone that is an illi fan, or someone that is in the media and knows deron personally, ect. But I dont regret picking deron over paul one bit. Both players will be great, and who is to say that Paul wont be another stoudamire who wins rookie of year, but then sucks it up. Deron is the future of the jazz, and I am glad we picked him when we picked him, and I am glad we have him now.

“I thought Deron finished stronger in the second half of the year,” Boone told The Oklahoman.
Too bad more people didn't think so or maybe he would've received at least one of the rookie of the month awards in the 2nd half of the year. Deron's "team" had a stronger finish.

Re: Chris Paul NEAR-unanimous ROY
Ron Boone is an embarassment. He is constantly getting the players names wrong. When Hot Rod left, they should of booted his *** out too.

Re: Chris Paul NEAR-unanimous ROY
Quote:
Boone, the 15-year television analyst for the Utah Jazz, was the lone voter among 125 sportswriters and broadcasters to not give his first-place vote to Hornets guard Chris Paul for rookie of the year.
Instead, Boone, a 13-year player in the ABA and NBA, awarded his first-place vote to Jazz point guard Deron Williams. That one vote prevented Paul from becoming the first player to unanimously win the award since David Robinson in 1990.
Boone’s selection might reek of “homer,” but he has an explanation.
“I thought Deron finished stronger in the second half of the year,” Boone told The Oklahoman.. “And I thought the head-to-head matchups that they had Deron played better. That was it.”
|
Again, it's just one vote and it's not the end of the world even know he should of put paul above deron.

I like Boone, I think its Boler******* and Brown who shouldn't call Jazz games.
Booner probably voted for Williams because he knew Paul was the winner. it was a no brainer that paul would win.

bolerjack adds excitement to the game when the jazz do something good, like when memo hit the game winner in overtime against the bulls at the delta center. I suggest watching that game over again and seeing the last 5 minutes of the game, he really got into it.
Booner sounds like he is dead calling the game, even when something exciting happens. Also, he is constantly getting the players wrong. I dont know how many times he called deron, devin. But he votes for Dwill and half the season he didn't even know his name. Booner should of left when hot rod did.

You pobly live close to Salt Lake, wish I did so I could go to games. I just live to far and work stops me from going most of the time. But I think a lot of jazz fans dont like boler, because we had hot rod for the longest time.

50 minutes South of Salt Lake City, in the city of Spanish Fork (by Provo and Utah Lake)
When I get off work, the game usually has already started and it wouldn't be worth the drive so I just watch the game at home. Only so many home games, and it's hard for me to make it. I do go when I can, like on weekends and such that I dont work. So, the only way would be to get a differnt job, but then I wouldn't be getting a quarterly bonus. So, I'm kinda stuck.

So what? Deron plays here; Boone broadcasts here. So Boone's a homer....and....? No surprise, no harm, no foul. Nobody's dead and nobody's bleeding, so Hornets homers can stop howling and making Oh-my-God-how-insulting!! noises because the vote wasn't unanimous.
Lemme tell ya, if missing one vote for ROY is the worst thing that ever happens to Chris Paul in his NBA career, he's got a good life going, okay?
