Boozer to Stay or Go?
May 14
Rumors persist that the Jazz will try to move Carlos Boozer this summer, even though Utah prospered with him as their starting center, going 9-5 down the stretch with Boozer collecting 20-and-10s on a regular basis -- and even though Larry Miller declared that there was a '99 percent chance' he'd be back. "I would expect him back," GM KEVIN O'CONNOR concluded, "but if we can improve the team... this is a business."

Jazz could still deal Boozer

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
Well there is always a chance anyone could be traded, espeically if it made the Jazz better. I can garentee you, if KG comes on to the Market the Jazz will try to use Boozer as bait. and I'm saying that even if Boozer played 82 games, there where to trade rumors, and he averaged 20-10. like KOC its business.
but my gut feeling tells me he stays. I dont think, even if he wanted to be traded, the Jazz could trade him, because his value is still low. He already has a reputation around the league for lowballing, and if he only played the last quarter of the season to be traded, I dont think teams will look at him as someone they want on their team.

I would hate to see boozer go as he is one of my favorite players in the entire league.

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
I never understood why Utah signed both Okur and Boozer. This was a mistake and Utah never recovered after that. Dont think that I am being nationalist but Boozer should be traded for a sg. I dont say Boozer is not a important or effective player but having two same players in terms of position is too much for Utah. It could be Memo either to be traded.

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
Please dont start this again, boozer got signed in FA to be the PF, and Okur got signed in FA to be the C. That's it, that's all. The only reason Okur started to play PF last season was because of boozer's injury.

Ummm, did you know that sloan never started okur the season before because he was out of shape. He was averaging less minutes. He gets into shape and gets starting minutes, that is the reason why he is doing so well. It's not because they moved him to PF, it's because he worked his *** over the summer. You're trying to make it that boozer is a threat to okur. when okur has it easier when boozer is playing. I want both okur and boozer on the jazz next year because they compliment each others game. Whats wrong with that?

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
Okur is actually a very formidable center, what with his rebounding, height (6'11"), much improved defense in the low post from a season ago, and his offensive game will flat out fustigate opposing teams.
I think the idea of signing a high/low post combo with Okur and Boozer was marvelous. Plus, Okur has really been outplaying his contract as of late. I'd say they are both good signings.
CJ Miles will also be a player in a year or two. We have all of the options, we just need a dang bench that doesn't feature players that would be in the NBDL otherwise.

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
I don't think I'd ever call Okur a formidable anything, but Boozer is worth keeping- though I might trade him for Zach Randolph if the salaries matched up. Utah could use some scoring and Zach is showing that he can score from anywhere.

First, welcome to the Jazz forum--nice to have you with us.
Second, the very idea of that lazy nutcase in a Jazz uniform is just wrong. I know Portland needs to get rid of him, but no way does Utah need the poison he carries with him like a mushroom cloud.

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
In the NBA there are in my opinion a few things that you do and don't do.
DO ---Have one of your free agents sign with the Knicks or Lakers. The jazz have a history of making average players look good the the knicks and lakers have a history of making players look bad. And I love it when those teams do poorly.
DO --- Drafting players from Duke.
DON'T ---Accept trades with New York or Portland. Both have a history of overpaying for people. Chances are if any other team had a player with a similar contract to a Knick or a Blazer, guaranteed your player is at least 4million/year better than a knick or a blazer.
DON'T --- Hire George Karl or Larry Brown as your coach. Sure you will get a couple of good years but there will be drama and problems. There are enough problems with players, the last thing you need is a coach with a god complex.

Re: Boozer to Stay or Go?
Wait, Okur isn't formidable? Um... we're talking about a guy that missed the all-star game by one lousy spot, only because they decided to take an extra guard/forward instead of a 3rd center.
If Okur starts at the C position and is considered a C, he's the 2nd or 3rd best in the West, or 4th or 5th best in the NBA.
18 and 9 is formidable. I don't know what else you would expect unless you expect everyone to be an all-star.

Thanks for the welcome. Sloan is one of my favorite coaches and I'd love to see him have some substantial talent to work with again.
I think Zach has a bad rap for being lazy, though he may well be a nutcase! Then again, so is Boozer, arguably.
How about a trade for Kmart or Richard Jefferson?
